The forgotten son of Scotland returns home after taking over the South African deep house scene for a couple of decades, founder of Stay True Sounds - Kid Fonque.

A leader in shining a light in underrated artists from early days Kid Fonque has an expansive knowledge in music from his productions to his Stay True sounds famous mix’s this man has good taste in music. We are happy to have the new head of A&R at defected to our first party of the year in the basement.

We expect the night to be filled with deep house, Afro house all in all top quality underground African influenced electronic music enough to move your spirit to the rhythm of the drums.

JAIVA Glasgow is back with a Stella all Zimbabwean lineup to celebrate black history month. We are excited to welcome Elanda for her first time on Jamaica street. ELANDA an Afro-Scot DJ and producer from Zimbabwe residing in Aberdeen. With residencies on Clyde Built Radio, It's Not Radio and Check Your Ariel she has curated an expert ear for a broad range of styles including amapiano , Afro tech/house , footwork,jungle , dnb and dubstep.
Her sound is an eclectic deep, dark and rhythmic-led melodic trip. She has played at festivals such as FLY open air and cultivate. Expect the unexpected with this one.

Joshua Dube set the bar high first time playing the basement we had to have him back with his Afro house & Ibiza influences shining out through his sets. We are excited to see the growth of this lads musical journey!!

Buthothewarrior will be back in the basement after a summer of infectious energetic summer sets including the memorable Sub Club stage at Otherlands Music & Arts and the summer closing rooftop party with a energy high deep afro house set that got everyone on the dance floor sweating. Expect everything Afro influenced from start to end!!

JAIVA • ButhoTheWarrior, Optimistic Soul & Joshua Dube • Sub Club • 05.08.22

Summer is here & we are shining the light on our JAIVA Glasgow resident DJ’s, this time around we have new member Joshua Dube. Zimbabwean born & Glasgow raised its been a joy seeing Josh find his style and taste. Joshua first came to one of our parties last year & from day one he felt inspired to learn & DJ in Sub Club fast forward a year later he has already supported family member Jasper James. We look forward to seeing the growth & what the future holds for him.

Usual suspect Buthothewarrior will be back in the basement after a his first Sub Club open to close back in April & a 7HR set from Knockengorroch festival.

Celebrating Optimistic Souls new single “alive” released a few weeks back he will sure to be keeping the spirits high. Appearing at a few Scottish festivals this year including a b2b with Buthothewarrior at Otherlands Music & Arts Festival the pair are a seemless Afro house duo in the scene. Keep an eye out for his AfricaIsNow parties at The Berkeley Suite.
