Tricky Hat Productions

Tricky Hat Productions We have particular expertise in working with older people, people with mental health problems and forensic psychiatry patients.

Tricky Hat Productions is a multi media company which specialises in creating and delivering theatre based projects with hard to reach and vulnerable people across Scotland. Professional theatre practitioners work in a variety of settings to produce exciting and valid new pieces of theatre through performance, drama workshops and new writing. The focus of our work is to release the power of the im

agination in safe and creative environments where people can flourish and develop. We have a performance rather than therapy based approach. We aim to challenge preconceived ideas and assumptions both for our audiences and participants. Audiences access voices and stories that are seldom seen or heard while participants are enriched by what they can find within themselves.

We have been delighted to commission local artist Stacey Calderwood to create an installation at Ravenscraig as part of Built To Last.

Sound Scapes is a site-responsive installation that forms part of the wider performance of 'Built To Last'. Composed of a field of sculptural forms drawing on industrial infrastructure and organic growth, the work creates a network of forms for listening, voice projection and sonic exchange. Filled with found land materials from the site, each sculpture produces a distinct response. Placed as an acoustic ensemble, the sculpture invites the audience into a shared and evolving acoustic landscape.

Experience Sound Scapes as part of Built To Last this weekend at Ravenscraig.

Since January, we’ve been working alongside young people from Lanarkshire Mosque in partnership with Women Activeworks Society, funded by Climate Action Lanarkshire 🌱

Together, we’ve been exploring the landscape of Ravenscraig - the former steelworks - reflecting on its past, present, and future. Through a series of creative workshops, we’ve used storytelling, local history, and the exploration of 'rewilding' to connect more deeply with this changing landscape.

From imagining new possibilities: “What would you build here if you could build anything? This project is all about learning from the urban nature right on our doorstep, from simply spending time outdoors.

It’s been inspiring to see young voices shaping ideas about regeneration, culture, and community — and rethinking what places like Ravenscraig can become.
