I will be returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year under the auspices of AGAP with a new play that I'm also acting in. I hope you can join us.

Delighted to announce that AGAP Theatre will return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and C venues this year from 19th-25th August with a brand new play based on the life of Antoni Gaudí, famous as the architect behind Barcelona's Sagrada Familia. Fringe tickets are on sale now and we hope to announce a tour dates in Glasgow and the surrounding areas. Book now: https://res.cthearts.com/event/34:4779/

Genius? Madman? Saint? As the 100th anniversary of the death of internationally renowned visionary architect Antoni Gaudí approaches, alongside the anticipated completion of his most famous work, Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, AGAP Theatre returns to the Fringe with this vibrant new multimedia drama that tells his story, exploding with colour and creativity, encouraging us to make the most of every moment. Written and directed by Stephen Callaghan with the production team of their 2023 hit show Oggie! Oggie! Oggie!

On this All Saints Day, I'm reflecting on the number of plays I've written based upon the lives of the Saints. I don't do pious humdrum - that's not what the Saints are anyway - their lives weren't perfect; they were full of intrigue, passion and often danger. This was a book of 14 short plays on Missionary Saints for upper primary age kids that I was commissioned to write by Missio Scotland back in 2018. It was disseminated nationally around Catholic Schools. I learned that the research and structuring of a 20 minute play for 11 year old is just as time consuming as the epic plays I've written such as "The Martyrdom of Saint John Ogilvie" and "Mungo: Legend of Glasgow's Saint". I love getting a commission to tell the story of Saint! Happy feast of All Saints!

In 2019, I was commissioned by the Vatican's Dicastery for Integral Human Development to write a play for the International Congress in Glasgow celebrating the Centenary of Stella Maris in 2020. Covid put paid to the production of the play that I had directed up to dress rehearsal but a very effective rehearsed reading of my play, "Star of the Sea" (directed by Rachel Ogilvy), was organised by Stella Maris for the Congress which took place this week. My wife, Rachel, and I were honoured to attend and received a Papal Blessing for us and our kids in gratitude for the work. Stella Maris (otherwise known as Apostleship of the Sea) ministers to the needs of seafarers of every kind all over the world and was founded in Glasgow in 1920. FINAL EVENT OF LENTFEST 2022. GOOD FRIDAY AT 7PM. Lentfest Premiere of Stations of the Cross by James Callaghan Artist with prayers led by Bishop John Keenan.
"My wish is that although this series is perhaps not as sugar-coated as most traditional Stations of the Cross, where there is not a drop of blood in sight, that they may attract the attention of a new generation of people, who will hopefully be able to relate to them, and understand in a little more depth the suffering that Jesus endured so selflessly for us so many years ago."
