It’s over!
Our three nights with The Merchants Play at Websters theatre ended with the traditional post-show drinks, chat and general fun in the Secession Bar of the theatre.
Old friends met up; new ones were made, the cast let down their hair, our director Chris could relax, safe in the knowledge that he had done his father and his Iranian ancestors proud. For the cast there was the pleasure of having done a good job. Thanks to all involved, the theatre staff, tech and backstage crew, front of house, wardrobe and props, the bar staff, and all others involved who made this project a success. And of course, our lovely, responsive audience!
And special thanks goes to the memory of our Iranian theatrical ancestors - those troupes of players who employed the traditional themes and characters of Baqqal Bazi to entertain through their characters, b***y stories and knockabout humour in the cafes and streets of ancient Iran.
