Scottish Opera x City of Glasgow College | Through The Student Lens | Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro

Student photographer, Mary Dillon, who recently took photographs of The Marriage of Figaro was awarded the Scottish Opera Season Contribution Award 2025/26 at the City of Glasgow degree show. Mary has been a valued participant in our work experience programme, consistently producing outstanding images of our productions. Some of these images have already been used in promotional materials, demonstrating the high standard of her work.

There's one more chance to catch The Marriage of Figaro in Aberdeen before we head to Inverness.

As part of our Emerging Artists programme, Scottish Opera's Costume Department is offering a trainee position to an enthusiastic person with qualifications in theatre costume making, or experience working in theatre wardrobe.

As part of the contract, the succesful candidate will:
Make traditional men’s wear and traditional ladies' wear costumes in the workroom.
Maintain costumes, gaining experience in storage and organisation
Gain experience in dressing and touring in the Running Wardrobe department.
Provide costume supervision and budgeting for a small Scottish Opera production.

If your child loves to sing, dance, and perform, our Summer School is the perfect way to spend the holidays. This July, we’re hosting an action-packed performance week in Glasgow for young people aged 8–12, celebrating the return of the Commonwealth Games. If your child loves to sing, dance, and perform, our Summer School is the perfect way to spend the holidays. Across five exciting days, students will take part in rehearsals, creative activities, and teamwork, culminating in a special performance of Built on the Clyde for family and friends.

Access The Marriage of Figaro | Friday 5 June - Festival Theatre Edinburgh, 3.00pm

With Dementia Friendly values at their core, these shortened performances of The Marriage of Figaro are open to all. Fully staged and performed by cast and orchestra, they also feature a presenter to introduce the story, characters and music from the opera. There are wheelchair spaces and extra staff on hand to help and a smaller capacity to allow everyone space.
