So far it has been a very very busy summer and working on my own means some days I just don’t stop … but today I decided to take a break after dropping off the almost last load of books at the post office to take 5 and seat outside a new place for a well deserved coffee.

Mine is a Flat White and yours ?

Now I will walk home via the park for fresh air to start my evening shift preparing I so blessed with living in this beautiful Scotland where the air is fresh and we still have green vegetation despite Global warming

Have a great week end everyone

I am for delivery of the digital images asap and before 15th October. I don’t need paper copies.

If you are that person please email me on [email protected] with link to your work and prices … students in photography ok. I need a good price as this exhibition is not funded and this comes out of my pocket but you need paid for your time.

This morning I took a drive to EDLC Heritage & Arts The Auld Kirk to check out a few details related to the upcoming exhibition and I was stopped in my track walking past 🌱🌱🌱

The box is lush with plants that are so ready for dyeing with big lush dark leaves and I can’t wait to test them.

Part of my Indigo journey was learning to grow one Indigo plant and the Persicaria was my choice… this years plants were grown from the seeds supplied by George 👩🏼‍🌾 ♀️Farmer of Indigo & Natural Dyes I hope George likes the result.

Only about two weeks till the opening of “Shades of Blue” and I can’t wait to try those on the opening day on silk for blue it is such a happy moment for everyone…

Click the link in my Bio for detail of the exhibition but take note the opening is on the 26th of September at 2.30pm with fresh leaves dyeing and a talk by Mann Craft one of the master dyer contributor

It’s a great pleasure to organise conversations about Indigo processes for the “Shades of Blue” festival … I almost forgot to share my own process…

On the 24th of October at 12 noon (UK time) I will introduce you to the historical European ferrous vat and the original recipe I am following for it. The session will be online live but recorded for replay.

This vat is suitable for cellulose material.

I hope you can join me for those conversations to learn all about Indigo processes.

EXHIBITION ALERT 🌱🌱🌱

It is my great pleasure to annonce “Shades of Blue” and exhibition I will be curating opening on the 26th of September at The Auld Kirk in Kirkintilloch for 5 weeks.

“Shades of Blue” is about my journey learning, working with and teaching Indigo over the past years. It is about plants, pigments and processes and the shades they give. It is about collaboration and sharing and connections we make while understanding the way of the Indigo heritage.

Together with the physical exhibition in Scotland I have organised a collection of specialists talks online love about vat processes from the 123 Fructose vat to the heritage fermentation vat from Bhutan. I hope you can join us…

An opening talk by Thai masterdyer Mann Craft at the opening on the 26th September will be followed by a Masterclass taught by Mann and myself on the 1 and 2nd October to learn Tamarind and Ferrous vats.

Two days of talks on the 10th and 24th October online live recorded.

A weeks retreat in my studio from the 13th till 20th of October to learn how to create prints using Indigo

A wonderful collaboration from 100 dyers of blue skeins…

I can’t wait for you to join us and share our blue joy.

THANK YOU SO MUCH 🫶

For ordering a copy of my book during the past weeks I am so touched that the Botanical printing community is so supportive of my work and I have been overwhelmed by the orders coming from literally around the World.

I had a target number of books I wanted to sell in direct and with your help I tripled it 🫶

I have to take a a break from selling it in direct because of other commitments but I will be back here with more signed books after my Asian trip.

My publisher The Crowood Press will take the relay and if you are in the USA or Canada Blackwell's will help.

SIMPLY CLICK THE LINK IN MY BIO AND YOU WILL BE POINTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION …

Remember if you get stuck you can still email me …

Happy Monday now I have to concentrate on Blue…

I always talk about the Art of making Unique crisp prints so I was so delighted when the Soho Photo Gallery contacted me to see if I would consider giving an online talk about my process and new book online live over zoom. The world is getting so much smaller :)

I loved my time in New York in the 1980’s but have not had the chance to visit again more recently … but giving a talk will be magical …

Located in lower West Manhattan on 23rd street the gallery specialises in exhibition and support of beautiful photo and alternative Art. I am so excited to be connected with them. I probably walked past that street in the past … not so far from the river, Madison Square Garden, The Village …

It is a pleasure to be talking to like minded people but actually the great thing is they are opening to the talk to the public and you can register to listen if you would like. It is free to the viewer…

I will be talking about my Eco journey and off course my new book published by The Crowood Press

To register please use this link or check their website or page. I hope to see many familiar people on the screen … it is recorded if you can’t make the time.
