Wee moving again on Friday, 1st May with the theme: Light Ma Fire!

🔥🔥🔥🔥

What is Wee Move?
Think "Open Mic," but for your body. This is an open movement night in Glasgow—a performance jam where movement takes center stage. Whether you want to experiment or just share your love of dance, this is a space for you.

How it Works:
Each participant gets a slot to perform a short, improvised movement piece.

On sign up, you'll "donate" a song (max 4 mins) to dance to, and in response, you'll receive someone else’s donated song to move to on the night.

A relaxed, welcoming environment to perform, to see and to be seen, experiment, and develop your skills.

The Details:
Friday, 27th March 2026
7:00 pm – 8:30 pm (approx)

Where: Southside of Glasgow. (The exact venue is shared once your slot is confirmed.)

14 slots available—first come, first served.

This time, we've picked a fire theme. This can be reflected in your song choice or in your movement!

Test Run Nro 1
9 words about commitment

1km I
2km do
3km this
4km one
5km thing
6km over
7km and
8km over
9km again

This is the first step in making '100 words about commitment'.

I am building up to run 100km to create a durational/endurance art piece combining poetry and long-distance running.

Each run will see me resiting the poem whilst running.
Each run will add to the length of the poem and the run.

On the 8th of August, as a part of the Govan Hill International Festival, Wee Move will take over the Cooperage Court Yard and Some Great Reward Records Cafe is providing the tunes for the dances!

On the evening, our performers will take the stage in a randomised order to dance to tunes played on vinyl by live DJ's.

And you know what? In a true open mic fashion, we have couple of spots open on the night for anyone who'd like to improvise / freestyle to a track selected by our DJ's. Please arrive early to secure your spot!

News!

(Learning) How to Love The Machine was awarded some time develop the piece at the Dream Machine, and we are very excited to present a work-in-progress piece of the audiovisual material and the movement piece on the 26th of October.

The iteration presented at the Dream Machine will include material from earlier iterations and also some new documentative material on the advances of technology in the last 4 years.

This is a moment when the durational nature of this process manifests: in 2021, during an R&D period, created materials to convey the feeling of the piece to audiences. This week, I returned to the files and, with so much gratitude and awe, was reading through the detailed information, the map to the visual world, or the language of the piece.

After almost 4 years of development, the pieces, shards, and fractals of material first collected through an intuitive process are becoming a collection. The connections and meanings of those connections are becoming clearer.

Very excited to see where this next iteration will take us!

The Fringe is here and in addition to doing our own show, we are going to see a lot of shows too!

Here are a couple of shows we’re looking forward to seeing!

✨️Who Told You To be Small?✨️
Beth hated her body and was tired of it. She decided to paint herself in the n**e to face her inner demons. She liked the painting so much she put it up in an ad in the London Underground. She enjoyed telling her story so much, she took the paintings to stand-up open mics all over London. Now, she has created her first show at the Fringe that incorporates her paintings and her comedy.beth.knight

🚲 NEWS 🚲

The journey continues!

We are very excited to share that 'Mind Like an Open Songbook' is back on the road!

The original 'Mind Like an Open Songbook'-series told the story of a bicycle trip through northen Europe through different iterations on the theme. The series utilized different mediums, street performance being one of them. The series concluded in a short DIY documentary that came out 2021.

This series was the first solo work of our producer and lead artist, Anna Tiia Sorjonen

Now, 3 years later, the themes of time, cycles, ends and beginnings are on our lips again, when we prepare to present 'Mind Like an Open Songbook' as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Street Events programme.

True to the nature of the series, where each new iteration built on the shoulders of the last one, we are taking the performance to new grounds, by Allowing the piece to morph once again.

A lot has changed in 3 years, but there will still be sand, glitter, poetry, and bicycles. Meditation and melodic ambient music might make an appearence as something new👀

The show will be on from the 16th to the 22nd of August, on the streets of Edinburgh!

⛈️ The Constant Storm by Jen Kelly

In April we had an amazing opportunity to join Jen Kelly for research and development of The Constant Storm at Mull and An Tobar Theatre.

Over the past year, we have been assisting Jen by documenting the process of making the piece, and helping out with administrative tasks and production.

Working alongside Jen and the talented cast at Mull Theatre to further develop the piece was an incredibly rewarding experience, as these photos hopefully show!

Thank you to the amazing team:
Jen
Flo
Annie
Rachel
Rohanne Woods

Felt very privileged to work in a theatre space after a long time of not having the chance to work in such space. A massive thank you to Mull Theatre for the support, and space and time and conversations - the time at Mull was very fruitful and took the process and work to new directions - a beautiful, challenging and rewarding week! ✨️

In reflection of the past year:

🦋Many things have been happening behind the scenes. The most significant change is our transformation from Rosace Collective to Spare Arts.
This decision was made at the beginning of -23, and we have been slowly finding our feet again under the new name!

🦋Good things take time, and sometimes you need to keep them good things to yourself, as a private little gem. What we are trying to say is that many things have been put in motion in the last year, which might not seem much now, but will make a massive difference in the future when we get there.

🦋We have been working with amazing people during this time! We joined 's project 'The Constant Storm' to provide creative and production support and have been creating marketing materials and providing social media support for the lively bunch . We are also producing our lead producers, , latest piece, 'WORDS'.

🦋We are still working on the last iteration of (Learning) How to Love the Machine. The process has been bubbling away in the background and has now transformed into something we didn't expect it to become when we started. This iteration will bring together video, poetry and sound to discuss AI.

🦋2024 will bring many new things with it - may it be Smoooooooth
