There’s still time to book in tonight for the Dinner-with-a-Stranger event tonight at 7pm!

This event gives you the opportunity to chat to a stranger over a home-cooked meal. Recreate one of the recipes in Zine by Master Chef Professionals 2016 Winner, Gary Maclean, prior to the event and you will be matched with someone at random to dine with online. The goal of this event is for nourishment: to reestablish basic human interaction and reconnect to others after the socialisation drought caused by the Covid-19 global pandemic, over a plate of good food. (And don’t worry, if you can’t manage to make one of the recipes in this zine or if it doesn't fit in with your dietary requirements. Bring along whatever dish you would like to make and that is suitable for you. The food is the secondary component to the conversation and connections made.

Whether you decide to swap contact information with one another or if you wish to leave the conversation and experience as a shared memory between you and your matched attendee, is completely up to you.

Had such a lovely time at the Mend-a-Fruit Workshop by Anna Winther.

Who knew sewing into fruit could be so therapeutic!!

Thanks to everyone who joined the workshop. Here are some very impressive results (safe to say, mine was not one of the more impressive ones).

And thanks to Anna Winther for conducting the workshop.

Anna’s hand-dyed thread is part of her sewing kit which is featured in A(r)t Home Zine Issue 1 Food for Thought. If you fancy a go at mending a fruit or a gander at the other incredible artworks in there, click the link in the bio to grab a copy for yourself!

You can still order your copy of A(r)t Home Zine now either via the website or the link is in bio!

A(r)t Home Zine is a project curated by Louise Muriel Burns and features work by artists Anna Winther, Grace Higgins-Brown, Alex Weir, Amy Kim Grogan, Rachel Harris-Huffman, Glen McLachlan, Chef Gary Maclean and Arts Organisations Zembla Gallery and Alchemy Experiment.

This first issue contains physical and written contemporary art pieces centred around themes of hospitality, food, food practices and domestic labour. Featuring multi-sensory artworks, the zine encourages the reader to interact and curate the work in their own space.

The zine will offer the opportunity for you, the reader of the zine, to respond to the first issue with your own creative medium. Whether that be poetry, painting, drawing, photography, a stream of consciousness etc. Whatever it is, you will have the opportunity to add to a community- produced archive using the prepaid envelopes and your work could be featured on the website!

As part of A(r)t Home Zine’s first issue ‘Food for Thought’ there will be two online events held at the beginning of August.

Mend-a-Fruit: Workshop with Anna Winther

Using hand-dyed thread from natural food dyes, the workshop will involve sewing into previous consumed fruit skin. Anna invites you to participate in this group performance to not only reconnect to the history of the home through domestic labour tasks, but to reconnect with each other through conversation and collective experience during a time of physical distance.

This performance workshop will be taken by artist Anna Winther and will consist of utilising the sewing kit featured in the A(r)t Home Zine's first issue 'Food for Thought'. If you do not have the copy of the zine and the sewing kit, don't worry! Book your place at least 3 days prior to the event and you will be sent the sewing kit to participate with.

The event is free to join or is the cost of postage for those who require a sewing kit.

Tickets are Available on Eventbrite.
*Please be aware that the sewing kit includes a sharp sewing needle*

Bring along whatever dish you would like to make and that is suitable for you. The food is the secondary component to the conversation and connections made. The event will be held on zoom, utilising the breakout room function to pair guests up with someone to chat to.

Recipes can be found in the first copy of A(r)t Home Zine: Food for Thought or on the website by clicking the button 'recipes'.

The event is free to join.
Tickets are Available on Eventbrite.

Link for the events and more information for both events can be found on arthomezine.com
