Lots of plates to catch up on today before the full catalogue goes online tomorrow! First up is the brilliant Ross Muir with his rendition of Garçon à la Pipe, painted by Picasso at the age of 24. Ross has painted his plate in oils on gesso with 24carat gold leaf highlights, adding his trademark twists. It’s a stunningly beautiful painting and (dare I say) better than the original, which incidentally sold for £104 million in 2004! This will surely join Square Gogh, Girl With a Hoop Earring and Mattidas etc. as one of his much sought after works! Can’t thank you enough Ross for creating this fabulous work for StepUpToThePlate!
