Art By Louise McBride

Art By Louise McBride Pastel artist, Ayr. Inspired by light, colour & spectacular skies. Commissions welcome - see albums. I'm always happy to hear from you!

I initially studied Visual Communication at The Glasgow School of Art, where I specialised in photography. Over the years I have gravitated towards fine art and most particularly pastel painting, although I also enjoy working with charcoal and various types of pencils. Photography still holds an interest for me and I capture all of my own reference photos for use back in my studio space. For me, t

he creative process starts with a good walk and my iPhone! As well as producing art from my own personal inspiration, I also enjoy working on commissioned paintings and drawings. For more details on commissions, or for work currently available to purchase, please send me a message here or email me on the address provided.

I realised that I haven’t spoken about the other aspect of my art career, as a teacher for thelittleartschoolhub charity, for a looong time. It’s funny because it’s actually what I spend the majority of my working time doing ❤️

So, when I’m not working away on my own paintings or commissions, I am helping to deliver art lessons to both children of a variety of ages and elderly people who’s lives have been touched by dementia. The lessons can be held either in one of our lovely studios, in schools or across a variety of care settings. To say the work is rewarding is an understatement.

Next Saturday, 6th June, we are holding a coffee morning at St Leonard’s church in Ayr to raise money for our dementiaartsproject - a hugely worthwhile cause. I’ll be there with a little table of art goodies if you fancy stopping by to help make a difference 🩵 All are welcome! Details in the flier pictured.

Before and after. Which do you prefer?

I recently reworked this painting of Dunure castle which I did a few years back. I wanted to show it in better weather conditions - quite literally ‘in a better light’. I’m pleased with the result 😊

I’m delighted to have been asked to be a part of this wonderful exhibition which starts this Saturday 16th of May, with a grand opening event.

I’ll have 5 paintings on display, amongst the work of 6 other very talented Scottish artists. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful venue ☺️
