For our 25/26 season finale on Saturday 30th May 1-2pm, we're delighted to welcome the Scottish Clarinet Choir back to the series for a brilliant programme of arranged and original works, including music by Smetana, Whitacre and Ravel!

The Scottish Clarinet Choir was formed in January 2019 under the directorship of John Cushing and is made up of professional players, teachers, students and primarily amateurs from all over Scotland. The group comprises over 40 members, playing everything from the tiny Eb clarinet all the way down to the 'paperclip' contrabass.

Most of us know Fergus McCreadie for his Mercury Prize-nominated jazz and the folk-inspired landscapes of albums like Forest Floor and The Shieling.

However, his upcoming solo performance at the Glasgow South Concert Series offers something a little different. For this concert, Fergus is stepping away from the jazz trio format to focus entirely on a classical repertoire—bringing his trademark touch and sensitivity to the works of Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms.

Join us for this unique performance on Saturday 25th April 1-2pm at Queen's Park Govanhill Parish Church. Tickets £6 on the door or available here in advance: https://www.ticketsource.com/glasgow-south-concert-series

Our next concert takes place 1-2pm on Saturday 28th March at Queen's Park Govanhill Parish Church, and features Stillpoint Ensemble - an unconventional quartet of piano, cello, saxophone and flute who will play their own arrangements of music by Amy Beach and Florence Price, as well as an eclectic collection of popular works by Einaudi, Piazolla and Richter.

As an all-female ensemble, Stillpoint are committed to championing a more equal, inclusive, and safe music world—one that celebrates women’s success and uplifts underrepresented voices. Their programming reflects this, with a strong focus on music by female and marginalised composers, and a deep belief in the power of representation, collaboration, and care.

📍Change of venue!📍

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Queen's Park Govanhill Parish Church are unable to host our upcoming concert this Saturday 25th October.

The performance from the Scottish Saxophone Quartet will now take place in Pollokshields Burgh Hall, situated in Maxwell Park - just a stone's throw from Maxwell Park train station (not to be confused with Pollokshaws Burgh Hall by Pollok Park!).

The timing of the concert remains the same, although we may start a few minutes late to allow for people to come over from Queens Park if they haven't gotten the message.

This exciting new ensemble, a collaboration between four eminent Scottish saxophonists, present their debut recital – exploring the underappreciated work of French female composer Fernande Decruck, with a concert centered around her beautiful eight-movement impressionist work Saxophonescas. The programme also includes transcriptions of Bach and Shostakovich, alongside original works by Thierry Escaich and Michael Torke which include influences of funk, jazz and tango.

Tickets £6 available on the door, or via pre-booking on TicketSource: https://linktr.ee/gsconcertseries

Please share the news with anyone who might be intending to come along, and we look forward to seeing you at the alternate venue on Saturday afternoon!
