Hi everyone. We are currently looking for funding to start our group again from September! Thought you might be interested in this, meanwhile. Hopefully Jas is going the first second and fifth weeks.

Each day will be jam packed with something new and exciting!

We've got plays, puppets, parachutes, performing, props, crafts, story telling, script writing, tuck shops, talent shows, costumes, singing, dancing and LITERALLY so much more!! 🎭

Every Monday our workshops will run from 9am - 3pm in Ryton Community Centre, Ryton Village.

£22 per day - Sibling Discounts available too!

🌟Don't leave it too late and book your spot today! We have had SO many of you lovely lot asking for dates and we are expecting to book up fairy quickly - So don't leave it until the last minute, we would hate to disappoint anyone!!🌟

23rd March. Blackhall Mill Community Centre. 6-7pm.

‘Dream of a Day’ Is a brand new play by Blackhall Mill Community Theatre. Join our young astronauts as they bravely board a space mission to save our planet. Journeying through meteor showers, avoiding white holes, searching for the Rainbow River, chanting the Lost Words, guided by The Dr and dodging flying pizzas, who knows if they’ll find answers needed to help our dear Earth. All aboard!

Tickets Are pay-as-you-feel/can and all proceeds go to keeping the theatre Project open.

This is our first play, created with all members of the group, Dave Kelman and our theatre workers who are generously supported by parents, volunteers and Blackhall Mill Community Association and amazingly generous donors.

We are starting to think about costumes (getting exciting!) anyone have soft white face masks or masquerade type masks, please? A few have said they do so please would you bring on Thu so we can see what they’re like please? It would be great to have to buy as little as poss x

Info for parents / carers. We’re a new group and working on the clarity of our working protocols 🙂.

Our aim is for the youth theatre to be inclusive and accessible. We ask in most cases that parents/ carers are present in the building due to the young age of the participants. However we know occasionally or in some cases this could prevent some children from attending. If this is the case please speak with one of the workers, in advance of the session, to see if we can accommodate your children attending without a parent/ carer present. If you can, please organise (in advance) another parent/ carer taking on this role for your children ie ask a friend to be their ‘in loco parentis’ / be responsible for them for that session. Please make these arrangements in advance so we can plan accordingly. Next week we will invite parents/ carers in to the beginning of the session to very briefly hear some protocols we’d like to agree with you ie children having access to drinks in the hall (thanks for the suggestion Sophie), children waiting till break for another snack / loo break (though of course we’d never prevent a child going but so they know there’s an opportunity there). We’re aiming to avoid a culture of children going in and out of the room repeatedly and hopefully they’ll be engaged by the activity but we know that it’s the end of a long day for some, that we’re working across ages and there’s a relatively large number (great!). We’re in the early stages of developing this project, so are trying out ways of working, we know it’ll take a little time to settle but we’re very excited to have such a big, creative group! Please chat with any of the team if you’re unsure/ want to raise something.

We’re aiming to keep the project free but would appreciate any donations for tea/ coffee for adults, fruit and juice for children please put in 50p if you can.

We are now full, great to have such interest!

We hope you all had an amazing Summer! We are so excited to be able to welcome you all back next week (12th September) to BHM Community Centre! We are changing the day to a Thursday, and we have some great things planned out for you...!

We performed our final show of Searching for the Heart of the Land of Oak and Iron today, at the BHM Summer Fair. We have so many people to thank for making this whole show possible...so please bear with us! Firstly thank you to Land of Oak & Iron and Blackhall Mill Community Association! Without your support this would not have been possible. Thank you also to SheSings, Mouthful Voices, Highfield Middle School and Blackhall Mill Youth and Community Theatre Group for their wonderful performances.
And here comes a mega list! Thank you to Chris Durant for his wonderful production management, Katherine Zeserson, Beverley Gray, Julie Nicholson, Shannon Berry, Joanna Young, Heather, Jo, Kath, Karen, Stuart Rutherford and all the staff at Highfield, Alison Ashton, all the parents and carers of BHM Youth Theatre for all their support, Andy Thompson, Ian Stephenson, Sophie Ball, Sharon Durant, Bethany Elen Coyle, John Quinn and Whickham Academy, Mortal Fools, Geraldine Ling, Ros Rigby, Northern Stage wardrobe department, Northumbria University, Jane Gower, Dr Dave Kelman and Dave Camlin. We cannot wait to do it all again! If you are trying to get tickets through the school, please bear with them as they are busy! You will definitely be able to get tickets on the door though, so don't worry about missing out.
