🍅 FREE TOMATO PLANTS 🍅

If anyone wants a free tomato plant (or two, or three!) then I have an abundance.

I have sown far too many and I can't keep them all 😅
Feel free to come and pick some up. They are just at the bottom of my front path near Western Way Ryton.

Message me if you need an address to find them 😊

What a FANTASTIC day we’ve had at our SOLD OUT Half Term Drama Holiday Club today! 🎭✨

It’s an absolute joy to work with such a wonderful group of children who are supportive, enthusiastic, and so kind to one another 💙

We’re sure there will be some very tired children this evening… and definitely one very tired drama facilitator too! 😂

We hope everyone is having a brilliant half term so far!

Keep your eyes peeled for our Summer Drama Workshop dates, which will be announced very soon 👀☀️

Our summer workshops always fill up quickly, so be sure to book early to avoid missing out!

💭 Let's talk about Dyslexia 💭

Recently, I was speaking to one of our students about school, and she shared that she’d been struggling because of her dyslexia and felt like she just wasn’t good enough. 💔

Hearing that really stayed with me, because as someone with dyslexia myself, I remember feeling exactly the same way growing up.

School often felt difficult, and I spent years believing I wasn’t as capable as everyone else academically and that there was something wrong with me, or maybe I was just lazy and unmotivated because I couldn't make sense of what everyone else seemed to find so easy.

It wasn't until after I left school that I was eventually diagnosed with Dyslexia.. and it was a drama teacher who recognised the signs right away! 🎭

I remember my drama class being a place where creativity mattered, imagination was celebrated, and I could finally build confidence in myself outside of the classroom environment 🤯

It helped me find my voice, express myself freely, and realise that being different didn’t make me less capable.

That’s one of the reasons why performing arts can be so powerful for children with dyslexia!

Drama helps to build:
✨ Confidence and self-esteem
✨ Communication and social skills
✨ Creativity and imagination
✨ Memory and listening skills
✨ A sense of belonging and achievement

At Bravo Performance, we’re passionate about creating a safe, supportive environment where every child can flourish in their own way.

Sometimes all a young person needs is a space where they feel seen, encouraged, and reminded that they are more than enough. 💙

✨ Meet Our Team ✨

Hi, I’m Colette.. Though most of you know me as CC! 💙

I work alongside Carolyn at Bravo Performance in Ryton and Hexham 🎭

I joined Bravo at the end of 2020, at a time when the world was reopening and we all needed connection, creativity, and fun more than ever.

Before Bravo, I worked professionally as an actor and storyteller for 7 years after gaining my BA (Hons) in Acting. I trained at Project A, performed locally, and toured productions across the UK.

Alongside my Saturdays at Bravo, I now work full-time at Newcastle Theatre Royal, where I help nurture and develop young talent across our region.

I work as a Mentor Director on partnership projects with the RSC Associate Schools Programme, facilitate youth theatre work, and help develop our involvement with the National Theatre Connections Festival each year, bringing hundreds of young people together to perform on our main stage.

I’m incredibly passionate about championing children, young people, and their creative talents. As someone who is neurodivergent myself (ADHD), I’m especially proud that Bravo is a space where every child is celebrated, supported, and encouraged to be themselves. Our differences are what make us great ✨

Sometimes drama isn’t just about acting or wanting to be a performer (although we absolutely love it if you do!). It’s about finding something you enjoy, discovering what you’re good at, building confidence, making friendships, and finding your people in a safe and supportive space.

One of my favourite things is watching our Bravo performers grow in confidence and shine ✨✨✨

🎭 Fact Friday 🎭

Did you know… alongside running Bravo, Carolyn also works with Nuvo Wellbeing 💙

Since 2008, Nuvo have been using the power of dance to help people across the North East and beyond improve their wellbeing, boost confidence, and live healthier, happier lives.

Through Nuvo, Carolyn delivers dance, fitness, and movement sessions within local communities, as well as working with many wonderful care homes, leading seated movement sessions with their lovely residents. 💃✨

At Bravo, we’re passionate about building confidence, creativity, and imagination through acting and performing arts for children.. And we are proud to deliver those same values and help make a positive impact across all ages and communities 💙

Messages like this are why we do what we do🥹

"I would like to thank you for the classes you have been running in Horden. My Dad (in the power wheelchair) attends and really looks forward to going. He gets so much out of the class and has found it easier to move his hands and he has more strength when moving between chairs. It has also helped with his motivation meeting people and feels like he belongs to the group. Thank you once again, much appreciated."

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this, it means the world to Carolyn and the whole team🙌

If you or a loved one would like to join one of our sessions, get in touch!🥳

Want to come along to this session?

Classes run each Tuesday 12:00-1:00pm at Horden Centennial and are free to attend thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund!

✨ A little re-introduction…

Hi, I’m Carolyn, Owner and founder of Bravo Performance 🎭

I founded Bravo back in 2014, but my journey started long before that. I studied for my diploma in Performing Arts at Newcastle College, before going on to Northumbria University to complete my degree in Acting. During that time, I worked professionally across theatre, television and film. I continued acting professionally for 7 years after graduating, alongside growing Bravo.

But the real inspiration behind Bravo came from something much closer to home… becoming a mum 💙

After having my son just before starting university, I felt a real passion to create something special. A safe, creative space where children could build confidence, be bold, and truly flourish through drama. Not just a place to “become a star”… but a place to grow as a person.

Because drama is about so much more than performing.

It’s about walking confidently into a room.
Introducing yourself to new people.
Finding your voice. ✨

That’s what Bravo Performance is all about.

Over the past 12 years, we’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible families! Some who have been with us since the very beginning 🥹

We now teach over 100 children every single week across the North East, and I couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them.

This isn’t just a business… it’s my passion ❤️

Thank you for being part of the Bravo journey!

We’ve had a fabulous week with our Bravo performers!

They’ve been busy building confidence, creativity… and a lot of stage sass 👀😂

We’ve also welcomed some lovely new members to our classes this week, and it’s been amazing watching them go from shy first steps to bold performances 🎭✨

If your child loves to act, imagine, or simply grow in confidence, we’d love to welcome them! 🎬
