Opening event this Thursday night (11th July) 6-8.

The exhibition showcases some of Blacketts’ recent works including prints of The Heart of Bernicia which was on show at The Baltic. The series of works all combine elements of refound objects associated with archaeological finds, history and prehistory.

The exhibition of the second year of shortlisted proposals for the North East Emerging Artist Award is now in the Stables . This is your opportunity to be curator for the day and take part of the judging process. Vote for your favourite proposal simply by placing a marble in the box for your chosen artist. A collaboration between the National Trust at Seaton Delaval Hall and Curator, .jarratt the North East Emerging Artist Award is open to artists in or from the North East who are in the final year of their undergraduate degree, studying for a masters’ degree, who have graduated in the last three years or equivalent. 2020 BA Archaeology graduate Annabelle Blackett has been shortlisted for the North East Emerging Artist Award!
Her proposal concerns the "Keelmen's Strike" of 1719 in Newcastle and Sunderland and the role of Captain Francis Blake Delaval of Seaton Delaval Hall who was a Royal Naval commander of HMS Gosport. You can view the proposals and vote for your favourite at National Trust Seaton Delaval Hall up until Sunday 14th May.

We’re delighted to share news that eight artists have been shortlisted for the second North East Emerging Artist Award.

The shortlisted proposals will be on display at Seaton Delaval Hall from Wednesday 19 April until Sunday 14 May and once again you’ll be encouraged to take part and vote for your favourites!

The eight shortlisted artists are:

• Sunderland-based Annabel Blackett a print and ceramics specialist
• Gateshead’s Rachel Blackwell, a sculptor working primarily in metal and stone.
• Richard Eyers, a photographer from the Borders.
• Jacob Goff, a Northumbria University fashion graduate and designer
• Wambui Hardcastle, a Newcastle-based performer, writer and director, most recently seen at the Hall in The Unlocked Door.
• Amy Jowett from Newcastle University, uses new media to reimagine heritage sites.
• Luke McTaggart, Amble-based painter and graduate of Northumbria University
• Stevie Ronnie, based in Corbridge, uses a diverse range of media and materials to explore language.

Congratulations to all the artists shortlisted!

The exhibition by the first year’s three winning entries from Chantal Herbert & Dami Fawehinmi, Maria Isidora and Edmond Salter will run from Wednesday 17 May – Sunday 11 June.
