Welcome to Horizons Dance Academy

Horizons Academy provides quality, fun and friendly classes in and around Ely and Cambridge. Our packed timetable includes Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Contemporary, Commercial and Musical Theatre for children from three years of age all the way through to adults. Opportunities include the option to take part in IDTA exams, Shows, Festivals & Performances. We proudly

encourage all young dancers, whatever their ability and goals.
- Welcoming recreational dancers who love their weekly classes.
- Supporting dancers who wish to dance professionally in the future.

🚨 EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT EXTENDED 🚨

You now have until 31st March to book the LSC Summer Programme at a discounted fee.

The Summer Programme offers a choice of workshop:
🩰Ballet and Contemporary: 27th - 31st July 2026
🕺 Jazz and Musical Theatre: 3rd – 7th August 2026

Both workshops offer technique classes and workshops delivered by industry professionals and include a sharing performance at the end of the week.

Great time at the Winter Dance Festival in Felixstowe this weekend!
As always I forgot to take photos, but here’s a few of our littlest ones :)

Lovely to have the juniors there together on Saturday to get a bit of lovely team spirit. Our little mouse was also such a fabulous buddy to Little Red Riding hood for her first ever festival!

Happy New Year Horizons gang!!

It feels like a big year is approaching - exciting….but big!

Those of you that know me well will know that I like organisation, I find it tricky being in limbo and, if I’m completely honest, sometimes overwhelm really hits.

So I’m going to practice what I preach, use dance as my constant and be sure to keep space for things I love to do.

I don’t do resolutions, but I do think of words that I want to focus on through the year.

My words this year are…..

This term we were given the most amazing opportunity to welcome a former Bolshoi Ballet dancer to our little local dance school.

Anna Koblova is a graduate of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, she joined the Bolshoi Theatre where she danced in both corps de ballet and in solo roles. In 2015 Anna became a classical ballet teacher at the Bolshoi Theatre School in Brazil and continues to teach dancers across the world.

I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive at first, our school is pretty unique in the way we teach ballet, we teach with the thought that dance is for joy (rather than perfection) and I wasn’t sure this would align with the Russian style and approach. But I didn’t need to worry, Anna is full of grace and kindness. Her method is full of detail and her teaching is geared towards elite dancers, but her directions and corrections were presented with such calm and her delivery so delicate that it became obvious to me that this was the perfect way for our students to experience the Russian technique and method.

Anna, we can’t thank you enough for bringing such an amazing opportunity to us. The dancers learnt and gained so much from your knowledge, expertise and humble passion. I know I can speak for both myself and also for the dancers when I say we really hope you’ll include us in your tour next time! It really was a magical moment for us, you left a mark on our little school - we are extremely grateful.

A heart felt thank you to Jane and Tim for connecting all the dots and putting this wonderful experience in motion.

This definitely was a day that highlighted how the creative arts bring us all together and connect people in the most meaningful way.

That’s a wrap!

Last week was a week of Christmas antics, including our annual snowball fight 😂

🩰 Hidden in those snowballs you’ll find ballet terminology.
⛄️ Teams then have to correctly identify each step (and can steal points from the other team if there’s wrong answers up for grabs)
❄️ Teams split into small groups and create ballet enchainements from their terminology snowballs.

A lovely celebratory week to end a gorgeous term.

When we first launched this course in our school, I knew it would be a wonderful opportunity for the kids involved, but I didn’t realise the wider impact it would have on the school generally.

I’ve been both surprised and inspired by the young people involved and the connections they have made. They have shown so much kindness and compassion within classes and they really are leaving their mark in the most wonderful way.

To see the opposite age groups within our school merge has been beautiful to see. I completely feel that these role models really are making such a positive impact on the younger students at the same time as growing in confidence and developing so many transferable skills.
