Rook Lane Chapel Rook Lane is a space for the cross-pollination of art, architecture and education. Stunning Wedding

Rook Lane is a unique arts centre housed in a restored 18th century chapel. The chapel is home to NVB Architects as well as beautiful venue for hire, perfomance, exhibitions and weddings. Rook Lane works with a number of creative partners across art, music, education and design to deliver a diverse and dynamic year-long programme of events. History....

The original chapel was built in 1707 and se

rved the community of Frome until 1968 but then followed 25 years of dereliction. Through the 90s, the space was used by artists for informal workshops, performances and exhibitions but it wasn't until 2001 that NVB Architects moved in to renovate the chapel and build a contemporary annex at the rear. From 2003 - 2013, the arts progrmme at the Chapel was managed by Rook Lane Arts Trust whose remit is to use the chapel as a space to promote the arts and education in Frome. The Trust handed the running of the chapel over to NVB Architects in July 2013, but retain an active role in programming and fundraising for education projects based on site.

Boubacar Samake, son of the late Malian music legend Sibiri Samake, carries forward the deep spiritual tradition of Mali’s donso (hunter) music — a lineage of ritual melodies and rhythms played for courage, healing, and connection to the natural world.

A virtuoso of the ngoni, the plucked lute at the heart of donso music, Boubacar is also one half of electro-afro innovators Siraba. He performs in this new line-up with Louis Campbell (electric guitar, from alt-folk duo Spafford Campbell), Ben Nicholls (bass) and master percussionist Seydou Kienou from Burkina Faso, whose djembe, calabash and karagnan bring a visceral, ancient pulse. Together they reframe this ancestral sound in a hypnotic, blues-tinged dialogue that bridges West African tradition and modern experimentation.

An evening of deep connection, healing and inner stillness in the heart of Frome as part of the 2026 Frome Festival Programme with Ali Hutchinson and Lisa Rothnie

Step into a nurturing space where ancient ritual meets vibrational healing. This unique evening weaves together the heart-opening medicine of cacao with the soothing, restorative frequencies of a sound bath – inviting you to slow down, soften, and come home to yourself.

🍫 The Cacao Ceremony
We begin by gathering in circle with ceremonial-grade cacao – a sacred plant medicine traditionally honoured for its ability to open the heart and deepen connection.

As we sip this warm, grounding elixir, you’ll be gently guided inward through intention setting and mindful awareness. Cacao supports emotional openness, creativity, and a deeper connection to your inner truth — allowing you to land more fully in your body, just as you are.

The Sound Bath
From this place of openness, you’ll be invited to lie back and receive the healing vibrations of sound.

Using crystal bowls, gongs and chimes, you’ll be bathed in frequencies that help to calm the nervous system, release tension, and restore energetic balance. The sound journey works on a cellular level, guiding you into a deeply meditative and restorative state.

What you may experience
A gentle opening of the heart and emotional release
Deep relaxation and nervous system reset Enhanced intuition and creative flow
A sense of inner peace and clarity
Reconnection to yourself and the present moment
A moment just for you
This is your invitation to pause, to be held, and to reconnect – away from the noise of everyday life.

Spaces are intentionally limited to keep the space intimate and supportive, so early booking is recommended.
