The solid-state Sony C-55P condenser microphone is a bit special! It delivers a beautiful presence peak and deep low-end extension similar to a vintage U87 or an old 414—but with better ergonomics. With a quick push of the side buttons, the mic capsule swivels 90 degrees vertically. This converts it from a front-address to a side-address microphone in a second, making it incredibly easy to position in tight spaces.

They sound incredible on drum overheads, close-mic’d snare, acoustic guitars, Leslie cabinets, and guitar cabs.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT:

If you’ve been thinking about booking a live, in-studio film session in our new church/studio facility, now is the time to make it happen!

To celebrate the completion of the studio, we are offering a 50% discount on live, in-studio film sessions from October through December. There’s an option to record direct to tape or Pro Tools, with mixing available through our 120-input Neve console.

We have multiple spaces, ranging from The Stone Room and Stage to the triple height Live Room (with three ISO booths). Theatre lighting, props, and studio furniture available on request.

Mic Monday🎙️

We are diving deep into the world of legendary stereo imaging today with two heavyweights: the Neumann SM69 Valve and Neumann SM69 FET microphones.

These masterpieces feature two completely independent, dual-diaphragm capsules stacked on top of each other. The FET is similar to a pair of congenital U87s. The Valve SM69 contains the venerable AC701 tube, utilizing the same K67 capsules found in an original U67.

We use them on everything—from capturing room massive ambiance to delicate acoustic instruments where musicians gather around a stereo mic in a great-sounding room!
