I wanted to share an invite to the launch party of Common Grounding, a new arts organisation from Sidonie Carey-Green, Josie Carter and Jodie Cole.

Fri 14 Nov, 7–9pm
Sunflower House, Folkestone (45 Foord Rd CT19 5AE).

There’ll be drinks, nibbles, a short film premiere (Edge States by Rhiana Bonterre 🎥), a secret creative moment and my DJ self - Local Foreigner to get us dancing.

Unusual to be granted the privilege of getting so close and being stared at.

Just this morning I was thinking about mystery. How much life is a mystery really. And how art can be a wonderful and turbulent way of exploring mystery. The revealing of what’s not seen or noticed. Of seeing differently. Not just in relation to human culture but the world at large. To be revealed and changed by.

The next period will be dedicated to this exploration, to be undone and create new.

Last Tuesday I had the privilege of DJing at the launch of ‘Holding On’, a new public artwork commissioned by producers Grmalem Gonetse Kasa,Ibrahim Ahmadzai and Mata Argaw as part of the co-design Studio project developed by People United and KRAN.

Mixing music from Afghanistan to South Africa via the UK and Portugal. + lots of live downloading of track requests by the amazing young people taking part in the event. They kept me on my toes.

We are left with a sense of joy, commitment and motivation to continue bringing this work to the Folkestone community and beyond, explore new places, spaces and collaborations, and develop new ways of approaching sound as a form of meditation and bringing people together.
