It really takes friends to remind you how much joy plein air painting is -and to find the madness to get the brushes out despite the cold and intermittent rain! Thankfully there was also some beautiful sunshine (and over the top rainbows) to make it all exciting. Thanks Kay for making this happen!

I got to push the painting a little further once back home and presented it at the current exhibition, where it found its forever home on the Opening night last Saturday. What a sweet feeling!

The show is on this week, every day 11 am - 6pm until the 22.02, then by appointment for an extra week. You can still see my little plein air, my bigger piece “Carningli Slumber” and a very varied range of fantastic artworks from fellow local artists.

- There might be a couple of spots left for my 2day workshop “Working with the figure, Painting beyond representation” in Norfolk with the fantastic group - 11th & 12th March

CHRISTMAS MAKERS MARKET!

I’m delighted to be part of a couple of Xmas markets this year. The first one is with the Womart Collective as I got the chance to step in for someone who could no longer make it, which felt super lucky but also meant A LOT of work to get it all ready in time. Really pleased with the result, and so so grateful to be part of such a lovely makers market. I’ll be there to invigilate on the very last day, Saturday the 20th.

Not yet finished, but bringing me a lot of joy from its presence in my living room (with its discrete 4x4ft size!)

Collaborative work in progress that’s been such a joy to explore this Summer.
You might remember a first post a few weeks ago showing how it started: painted live during a music festival (thanks to for making it possible!), I was already inviting people to join in with the picture making: as my painted character is herself drawing, I wanted people to get inspired so we could all create alongside one another.

A couple of weeks later I was bringing the painting to the first edition of the “Creative Climate Fest” where I continued asking for collaboration. Beautiful drawing were created in response, and as they day went by I started incorporating them as trompe l’oeil to my piece: a way to make those ephemeral drawings last, and for me to playfully incorporate them into my painting, responding to their motif to pick the right placement.

I’m yet to finish up some detailing on the trompe l’oeil and to resolve a few things in the general composition and figure, but it’s already been such a joy working with the input of others.

I’m pretty sure this painting is only the first seed for more: if I can dream it, I’d love to create bigger pieces to work on with schools and various publics, co-creating big dreamscape that could then be left on site, in door and outdoor.

Similarly to the online sessions I’m putting together (currently finishing the website page, more tomorrow!) my big desire is to bring more creativity into our daily life, for it to not be gate kept by people who already feel like “artists”, but to everyone. Taking away the daunting aspects, putting forward the freedom and playfulness, making rooms for emotions and a language that is not spoken.

I’m super excited to start introducing those online sessions. It’s been brewing for some time and it all started to unravel once I found this Creative Logbook format.
More info to come in the next couple of weeks, but please go ahead and fire any question you have - even if you’re not sure to take part in the course just yet, it’ll help me clarify how I present what is brewing inside!

A proper Q&A session will be on Sunday the 21st of September - 11am (UTC+1).
Attending this Q&A does not make you commit to the course, just come along and see how it sounds!
But of course if you already feel pretty confident you’d like to join, do let me know!

If you’re interested by the course but Sunday morning is not a good fit for you, tell me as well. If enough of us would like a different day, I’m happy to work it out!

My latest newsletter has finally been written and will be sent your way in a few hours - in it I’m sharing with you pictures and insights into my latest solo show ‘Landing’ and its 15 paintings (of which 10 where shown for the very first time); some words on my latest workshops and the various art opportunities I got to get involved with this Summer. Feeling very lucky that painting never ceases to teach me about my inner world and how it impacts the outer one.

Sea Daughter

This painting is the latest companion of Daughter & Sea and Daughter & Sun, you can see the three of them hung side by side a few posts ago. Those kid paintings dig back into feelings of loneliness and boredom, transforming into creative dreams and projections the abstract shapes randomly created by their environment.

Eventhough she's the most recently painting, she had appeared in my sketchbooks years prior, but for some reasons it took longer for her to arrive as a painting (I attempted a few times, on different surfaces and scales, but it never felt right until now). So here she is now, the younger sister, conscientious and playfully interacting with the Universe, letting her imagination transcend scale and the illusion of separation, you go girl!

In between the bigger paintings that are inherently demanding, I indulged in my childhood photographs once again - a sort of re-invented nostalgia, revisiting memories and curating what part of myself I want to connect to on that moment through paint. An obvious choice goes to my great forehead and BFF of a teddy (with a popcorn addition).
