I've had a break from craft fairs, but I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of chatting to folk and explaining my unique way of doing art.

To be honest, it's not been a great summer in Orkney. I think it's about the worst in the 23 years we've lived here. April, May, and June were bonny, but July and August have been dull, wet, and windy for the most part. I haven't bothered too much as I've been really busy. The days which were lovely we made the most of ( 20 degrees with a slight breeze) so it's not all bad.

On the positive side, the garden has been amazing. The grass is green, the honeysuckle smells divine, and the olearia just looks like it's laden with snow. Beautiful!

I'd still take the cool here, over the heat in the south of the country any day. I need to breathe in fresh air !

All things white and beautiful!

I love the simplicity of white flowers. Rich, deep colours are gorgeous too, but somehow I'm always drawn back to the simple. The smell of the meadow sweet is just amazing this year.

Even in the height of summer, you can still get away from the crowds and enjoy the scenery on the RSPB reserve at The Ring Of Brodgar. It's one of my favourite spots, and there's a picnic bench down by the lochside-perfect for a flask and a sandwich. Is it just my generation that likes to do that sort of thing?

If you're interested in archaeology, then you may know that Sir Tony Robinson and the Time Team are currently investigating a strange anomaly at The Ness of Brodgar at the moment.

The Ness is at the Heart of Neolithic Orkney and is a World Heritage Site. It dates back over 5000 years. Mind blowing! I can see The Ness, which is between the Ring of Brodgar and the Stones of Stenness, from my house. It is in the distance, but even so, it's still pretty amazing!

Here's my tea bag art offering - an autumnal scene of part of the Ring of Brodgar. A little piece of history in art.
