Pedally steve

Pedally steve I cut names, I tell stories, I try and keep you and your children entertained and give you all memories (as well as names) to keep.

Names are just 50p per letter and I make them while you watch. Thirty-five years on a fretsaw in action before your eyes.

Best laid plans part two.

The car spent yesterday at the garage and it worked beautifully. This morning? Nada :(

Now awaiting the AA (again) but in reality it's time to sell/scrap it and buy another vehicle. It's a shame but the fault is probably the engine management computer and that's not an economical repair on a 13 plate car with 125k on the clock.

However I still need to get to Hull to get the V5 so alternate plans are being made.

So amongst the various hobbies I have, when I'm not being Pedally Steve or making stock for Christmas, is designing rugs.

I design them and then Mrs Pedally hand knots them using proper Axminster carpet wool as one of her hobbies. Below are some of the latest ones she's done.

Next Sunday there's a craft fair at Felixstowe Leisure Centre and she'll be there with some of them. The fair is the annual one for Guide Dogs that usually runs along side Art on the Prom. AOTP isn't running this year but the fair is still going ahead.

Well that didn't work like it was meant to :(

I did get the car "fixed" on Tuesday. Today I got two thirds of the way back to Hull, stopped for diesel, turned the key and on came the warning lights and the engine went into limp mode. Made it to the car park and called the AA, again.

The patrol came out, tapped the offending EGR and the car started perfectly. Turned round and headed back to Felixstowe and the car is now back at the garage whilst they work out what the problem is, probably a bad connector to the EGR or a frayed wire. Hopefully they'll find it and be able to repair it because replacing that connector and cable is not an option, FIAT will only sell an entire engine wiring loom, not individual, and that and fitting would be more than the car's worth!

Oh joy, I will get back into the workshop, sometime.

I've now finished my Summer in Felixstowe and I have a few "Thank Yous" to make.

I'll start with the Mannings, Sarah, Charlie and Johnny, for letting me use the pitch. The various stall and food vendors have been great as well.

However I really want to thank all my followers, old and new, for coming on the journey with me, all my customers, old and new (my bank manager salutes you) and all the lovely people I've met across the summer. The reason I keep doing this is because of the people I meet so thank you.

What's next on my agenda? First up is getting my car repaired, I'm not going to drive it up to Hull with warning lights and the chance of it going into limp mode, the thought of doing 20mph on the A14 gives me the chills.

Hopefully then there will be ten days in the workshop, then a week's course, then a week in North Devon. At that point there'll be about six weeks until York Christmas Market so head do

I will keep posting during the Autumn so hopefully they'll appear on your feeds.

What a difference six weeks makes. Parked up this morning and it was still dark.

After yesterday's washout the forecast is better for today and tomorrow so I'll be out for the last two days of this summer's run.

Day 41 and the car is parked in situ ready for the day. I've been for a run and didn't trip over this time, just as well as my elbows are still sore from last time.

Yet again the weather forecast has rain and thunder in the mix, it did yesterday as well but it didn't happen. It's quite muggy at the moment so we'll see what happens.

Today's picture is slightly different to the norm. It's from the Historic England collection and is an aerial view of Sea Road in 1953. The red "X" marks the spot which is Mannings/Beach Street in the days when it was an amusement park. If you look closely you can see the rollercoaster and a carousel where the fountain now is.

Day 37 and I'm all set up ready to trade. Yesterday was a fun day, not just because I was busy but also because I met some great people which made the day seem to go faster.

One perk of my location is that I can see out to sea, specifically the approach to Felixstowe Docks. Amongst the every day flow of shipping there's the occasional special one. The picture below is the OCCL Wisdom making her maiden visit to Felixstowe. She's special as she's the first of a class of methonal dual ships, she's also big! 399 feet long and able to carry just over 12,000 forty foot containers!

Anyway, work calls,

Yesterday was another day where the weather couldn't make up its mind. Had to cover up for impending showers a couple of times but then all that happened was a few drops. Third time it happened I packed up and went home a little early.

The reason I don't work in the rain is twofold, firstly customers really don't was to stand around in the rain, secondly when the wood and the saw table get wet the wood doesn't cut cleanly or move smoothly through the blade. One of the few times I've cut myself was when I was finishing a name in the rain and the wood slipped and took a finger into the blade.

Anyway, in between times I cut some names and phrases, below is my favourite one of the day.

Another day and I'm set up ready to trade.

As with yesterday there's rain in the forecast but it didn't arrive until the evening yesterday so we'll see what happens today.

I'm still sore and feeling various parts of me that I hadn't realised I'd hurt until later but I've under a fortnight to go so onward and hopefully upwards.

Day 33.

The sky keeps threatening rain but so far it hasn't delivered.

I'm back out and I've already cut a few names today.

As far as my aches and pains are concerned, they ache. The bruising is beginning to show and when I sneezed it reminded me that my middle age spread had also hit the ground. Such is life :)
