Nightmares On Wax & Marlon Lopez – Patang…in stock now at www.vinylpeople.co.uk

Nightmares On Wax appears courtesy of Warp Records
Given the Balearic life that Leeds ex-pat Nightmares on Wax now leads in Ibiza, we have to admit we did not see this coming: the downtempo Warp legend returning to his early 90s electronic roots. He does so with a new series of collaborations with young talents on 20/20 Vision, starting with Marlon Lopez. ‘Patang’ is slow, snaking dub with glitchy synth patches and melodic bass. ‘Cancel Dat!’ has a crunchy feel next to the bleepy synths with a leggy, loopy low end and tech house snap. Wulf’s Jam 4 Jamie is a deeper, more twisted version and label head RL’s Get It Together remix cuts up the groove and brings a spoken word that reframes the cut as soulful I:Cube style jam.

Kate Bush – Hounds Of Love…on Purple vinyl, now in stock at www.vinylpeople.co.uk

Kate Bush has authorised new vinyl pressings of her entire ten album run destined for sale through indie outlets like our good selves, and Hounds of Love must be one of the best known among them, achieving double platinum status after its first release in 1985. Bush’s fifth LP, it contains her recent, Stranger Things-assisted viral success ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)’, but there’s a lot more to it than that. There’s a brace of other big hitters - the wonderfully fluffy ‘Cloudbusting’, the title track and ‘The Big Sky’ - but the way that she and her production team incorporate the latest technology like the Fairlight, while dodging its cliches, is a marvel in itself. It’s rooted in its time, sure, but as its recent revival proves, it still sounds timeless.

The Wild Swans – Bringing Home The Ashes…now in stock at www.vinylpeople.co.uk

Limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on translucent coloured vinyl, including insert.
The Wild Swans’ gosling transformation came in 1988, carrying the weight of a near-mythic gestation, the band having emerged in early-80s Liverpool beside Echo & The Bunnymen and Teardrop Explodes, issuing the cult ‘Revolutionary Spirit’ before splintering. By the time this debut manifested - reshaped about vocalist Paul Simpson and guitarist Jeremy Kelly - the post-punk austerity of their origins had given way to windswept, post-shoegaze soundwalls, often compared to U2’s panoramic mid-80s sweep. Simpson’s icy, devotional baritone hears him explore faith, doubt and sympathetic exile, lyrics shot with Cold War unease. This 2026 Music On Vinyl crystal-clear reissue restores yet another of their albums to bridge eras.

Ben Hixon / Stonie Blue - Ghoul5ive…now in stock at www.vinylpeople.co.uk

Texas-raised, NYC-based Ben Hixon continues to be one of deep house’s most essential new voices. His dusty, lo-fi take on the genre feels instinctive and raw but always carries serious emotion under the surface. After a fine outing announced already on NDTAL this month, he’s back on his own Dolfin with another crucial three tracker. ‘Purpouse (Jubilee)’ is a swinging sound with classic Midwestern vibes, ‘Look At Me’ spins out into high-paced juke and footwork drum patterns with eerie pads and ‘Read Between The Lines’ is a low-lit, low-key basement house groove with conscious mutterings adding serious depth. Another doozy from Hixon.

The Nathaniel X Project – The Resurface EP…now in stock at www.vinylpeople.co.uk

Miche’s Daybreakers imprint continues to delve into the archives and hard drives of original 90s deep house/garage-house fusionist James N Tinsley aka Nathaniel X. Previously, they delivered an EP of mid-90s tracks first released on cult label Music Station. Here, they pair two “lost” tracks from 1993 with two unheard 2025 jams. In the former category you’ll find ‘Scat Pack’, where improvised s**t vocalisations and Burrell Brothers style synth solos cluster around an organ-rich deep garage-house groove, and the more spacey, NYC-does-deep-house-jack of ‘Saturn Ring’. As for the 2025 cuts, they explore his classic early 90s sound. For proof, see the vibraphone solo-laden colour of ‘Kwayzar’ and the even deeper and dreamier musicality of ‘Just What You Want’.

BOLLA AFRIKAN BASEMENT / JOE CLAUSSELL – Downward Staircase EP….now in stock at www.vinylpeople.co.uk

Many of many aliases Joaquin ‘Joe’ Clausell has decided to return to tracks he released as Bolla (his childhood nickname, fact fans) and Afrikan Basement back in the mid 2010s. All of the cuts he’s remixed here were originally featured on the 2015 album Makussa, though in typical fashion he’s re-made them with the help of a lengthy cast-list of musicians and percussionists. He delivers two takes on ‘Downward Staircase’ - a languid, loose-limbed and solo-laden Latin house style ‘Sacred Rhythm’ version, and a deeper, more bass-heavy and stripped back ‘Drum dub’ take. Elsewhere, ‘Basement Seance’ is a spooky and spaced-out fusion of ambient chords, African rhythms and heady vocalisations, and ‘Kewlo’ is an organ-rich Afro-house percussion jam

**Now in stock** Sasha & Cortese – One / U Disappear.

1 of 500 hand numbered

Last year, UK dance music legend - and progressive house pioneer, of course - Sasha set about collaborating with a swathe of young and up-and-coming artists, blending his classic sounds and decades of experience with those of a new generation of talents. He continues in that vein here, joining forces with Plaza Recordings founders and giddy breaks/garage/house fusionists Cortese. ‘One’, the headline track here, is trippy and trance inducing, putting a 21st century spin on the kind of dreamy, melody-rich and trance-adjacent progressive house jams that Sasha became famous for as the 1990s progressed. ‘U Disappear’, meanwhile, takes a similar approach, albeit with rumbling speed garage bass, more sparkling electronic motifs and hazier female vocal samples
