Miss Sophie's Dance Academy We offer dance classes from 18 months including Tip-Toes (Pre-school Ballet), Mini Groovers & Tapper First class is free.

We are a fun Dance Academy great for confidence and fitness. We have experienced teachers specialising in teaching children from 18 months to 18years . We offer Tipp-Toes classes which are pre-school Ballet classes in Ashford, Canterbury, Faversham, Herne and Whitstable. These are 18 months to 4 years with a 3 week taster for £10 and then £5.00 a class payable termly. Our older classes from 4+ yea

Our Herne classes at Herne Institute Hall welcome dancers aged 4–18 years, whether they’re stepping into a dance class for the very first time or already love to perform! 💃

💜 A HUGE GOOD LUCK TO OUR 2026 GRADUATES! 🎓

It’s time for another MSDA generation to spread their wings and start an exciting new chapter — and this year, our graduates are heading off to university to study some seriously amazing things! ✨

🧪 Emma is heading to the University of Bristol to study Physics.
🌿 Megan is heading to the University of Kent to study Ecology & Conservation.
⚙️ Cleo is heading to the University of Bath to study Combined Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.

We are SO incredibly proud of everything they have achieved, both inside and outside the studio. Watching them grow from young dancers into the amazing young women they are today has been such a privilege. 💜

We’re going to miss seeing you in class, hearing about your weeks, watching you perform and having you as part of our MSDA family — but we are SO excited to see where this next adventure takes you! 🥹

✨ BACK TO SCHOOL SEASON… BUT LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT? 💃

As September rolls around, you might be looking at your home education routine and thinking… what could we add this year? 👀
Maybe you’re looking for a new activity.
Maybe you want to get your child more active during the day.
Maybe they’d love the chance to meet other home educated children.
Or maybe they simply LOVE dancing and need somewhere to let that energy out! 💜

Our Home Education Dance Classes are back this September after such an amazing first year — and we’d love to welcome both our returning dancers AND some new faces! ✨

📍 Every Thursday | West Faversham Community Centre
🕚 11:00–12:00 | Primary Age (5–11)
🕛 12:00–1:00 | Secondary Age (12–16)

Each class combines Modern, Musical Theatre Jazz & Street Dance, giving dancers the chance to explore different styles, learn exciting choreography and develop a wide range of dance skills — all while keeping active and having FUN! 🎶

And it’s not just about the dancing…

🎭 Develop creativity & performance skills
🤝 Make new friends
🎶 Explore different dance styles
🌟 Work towards achievable goals

We also have progress cards for every dancer, so they can track the new skills they learn throughout the year. Complete a level? Time to celebrate! 🥳
At the end of each term, we hold a mini presentation where dancers can show off their achievements and receive recognition for all their hard work. 💜

We’ve loved watching our Junior dancers grow in confidence, friendships and ability over the past year, and we’re SO excited to see what the next year brings!

✨ THINGS CHILDREN LEARN IN DANCE THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH DANCING ✨

Dance is about so much more than steps, routines and performing on stage.
Every week, our dancers are learning skills that will stay with them long after the music stops. 💜

From learning to keep going when something doesn’t come easily, to accepting feedback, working as part of a team and having the confidence to be proud of what they’ve achieved — dance gives children so many opportunities to grow.

💪 Work ethic — learning that improvement takes time, repetition and perseverance.
👂 Taking corrections — learning to listen, adjust and use feedback positively.
✨ Confidence that’s earned — knowing “I worked for this. I can do hard things.”
🤝 Accountability to a team — understanding that their effort and commitment can affect those around them.
🎀 Pride in presentation — learning that preparation, posture, energy and presentation matter.
🔥 Passion & discipline can coexist — discovering that something can be incredibly fun AND require hard work.

These are lessons that reach far beyond the dance studio. 💜
