One of the questions I get asked the most is ‘How long did it take you to paint that ? Which is impossible to answer, as some get finished quite quickly others like this one took months . But all of them sit on my shelves in my studio for a while and I look at them everyday , making little adjustments . It’s like looking at several dozen problems trying to work out the solution to each one and sometimes it occurs to you quite quickly other times it takes a while and the answer eludes you. Today I’ve finished this seascape as I was having trouble with the top section but it’s all good now ! Or at least until I look it at tomorrow .

A bit of morning lushness! I’m not at the studio today as I have a bit of a cough so just chilling and doing some admin and floating around my garden in a floppy hat (not!).Well at least not in a floppy hat. I do want to get it there and see what has fallen over in the wind yesterday. Happy Thursday everyone ###

I’m so enjoying immortalising my garden in pastel . I’ve slowly been building a bed of irises, geums , foxgloves and verbena at the bottom of my garden . I wanted it to be a wonderful array of warmth and joy . The challenge is to make the bed look good the rest of the year too. I’m going to do a series of paintings of my irises this is the first .
