📕 DALTON HARRISON BOOK LAUNCH 📕

Dalton Harrison joined the bill in the poetry/spoken word slot for Edition #5 way back in December 2022 and has been such a supportive part of the Arts at the Arms community ever since. Dalton’s story is one of the most important we’ve been able to share on our stage and we’re proud to have played a small part in his journey.

This week on Wednesday 22nd July Dalton launches his new book ‘A Prison Within a Prison’ from livedplacespublishing at The Bookish Type 🌈📚

The event will feature Dalton performing his poetry and reading true stories from the book as well as an expert panel discussion. Expect an absorbing evening celebrating a brilliant achievement.

🎭 ORPHEUS - THEATRE 🎭

The final act announcement for our show tomorrow is ‘Orpheus’ written and performed by and directed by Leanne Rowley - a beautiful piece of theatre with a wonderful creative team who we are delighted to welcome back.

“Amy visits her dad in the care home every day. Some days she brings biscuits; some days she brings gardening gloves; today, she brings a speaker - and a carefully curated Spotify playlist. If music really is the food of love, is it enough to bring him back from the underworld?”

🎭 I, WAKE - THEATRE 🎭

For the inaugural Yorkshire Fringe Theatre we’ve decided to play the hits with our theatre pieces - inviting back two talented Yorkshire teams with some of our favourite pieces from previous editions.

First up is Dec Kelly piece ‘I, Wake’ - a piece that explores themes of brotherhood and grief whilst deconstructing stereotypes around masculinity.

We’re so pleased to have these boys back with us on Thursday at Seven Arts - find your tickets via our links in the normal places! 🎟️

🎭 NEIL THOMAS - COMEDY 🎭

Our next act for next Thursday is Neil Thomas - Comedy

Neil is a stand up and improvisor, who brings a mixture of observational and surreal humour, he takes the audience on a tour to visit his various brain worms. A strong writer, warm presence, with energetic delivery - he’s also very large, so you’re getting a lot more comedian than others for your money. 🫰🏼

✍🏼 SUJANA CRAWFORD - POETRY 🗣️

Our poet for this next run of Arts at the Arms is another talented multidisciplinary artist- Sujana Crawford.

Raised in Nepal and now living in Yorkshire, Sujana is a writer and researcher drawn to stories rooted in place, memory and folklore. Her work often weaves together different languages, cultures and ways of understanding the world. She has published her poetry widely in magazines and anthologies, and her plays have been developed in collaboration with BBC Radio 4, Warwick Arts Centre and Box of Tricks, among others.

We’re really excited to welcome Sujana on stage next week (Thursday 16th July) at Seven Arts as part of the Yorkshire Fringe Theatre 🙌
