About the Bands...

From The Top Orchestra
“The Orchestra was founded in 2017 with only 9 players! It is now a full concert orchestra of 40 performers rehearsing every Thursday in Farrington Gurney Memorial Hall. It provides an opportunity for players of all ages, Grade 5 and above, to rehearse and perform, bringing people together through the power of music! We aim to create an energizing, fun and challenging group which enhances the positive and acts as a force for good by raising large sums for charities at each concert. “BE&K are a Hanham based brass band founded on 2 of Bristol’s best-known bands, Bristol East Band and Bendix Kingswood Band. The Bristol East Band was founded in 1892 for miners of the local coalfields and has had a continuous presence ever since.

Under the musical direction of Nathan Jenkins, the band has grown over the last few years and now has a new energy which is evident in their performances. BE&K have a reputation for giving quality and entertaining performances that often include arrangements of film and TV themes along with popular music from the last 50 years.

If you are interested in joining or booking the band, please come and chat to us in the interval.”
