Karina Fraser Well hello there... I'm synaesthetic and I paint the music I see. I'm a creative producer, founder of F4Wt, and director of creative social group MAKINGSPACE.

I'm a synaesthetic artist and designer working out of my little studio in Hampshire, UK. Synaesthesia is simply a cross activation of the senses. Not all of us have it, some synaesthetes find it impacts their life in negative ways. I'm lucky, I am a grapheme-colour and sound-colour synaesthete, which means I see colour when I listen to music or read words and numbers. That's called chromesthesia.

It's impacted my life in a very positive way, and comes into play in all aspects of my creative practice. I studied Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts, London and after graduation quickly became obsessed with following down the path of pens and paint rather than the route of computerised commercialism. I think I was already there to be honest... And over the past decade have built up a little empire of portrait commissions, abstracted big canvases, record covers and painted anything stationary. I also became very interested in the way our brains work, the way syneasthete's brains work, the relationship to how musician's brains work and the way we all perceive colour. I studied that so much that I got a few more letters after my name. I'm still studying it. I'm sure I always will be, because it's interesting. Ask me about it if you're interested too. The beginnings of the installation of our sonic immersion experience this weekend at Westy Art Fest 26. But wouldn't want to spoil the surprise now, right?

Sonic immersion is a quadraphonic experience where the listener is invited to relax in the space hearing differing ambient music as they physically drift in the space. I have echoed the chromosthesic experience to envelope and breathe with the room.

Catch this all weekend, with performances from .wav and Restinij across Saturdays sessions.

Loads else going on too! £12.50 per session, £5 kids.

Kicks off 7pm Thurs 16th July (that's tomorrow)

Westy Makes exhibition is go! A curated selection of creations by West End Centre very own courses and workshops showcases the pure talent in our community.

Also on display is the Community Cookbook - a collaborative collection of recipes and stories from all over the world, right here in Rushmoor

Take a look and take part during the Westy Art Fest 26 from July 16th - 18th --- expect interactive exhibitions and murals, live music, comedy theatre, film, poetry, craft, screen printing with University for the Creative Arts , punk pottery, family activities, a sonic immersion installation by Forward 4 Wiz Trust and UCA Collab, ModCaf, dynamic life drawing, DJ open sessions with and much much more.

Basically, if there is something you always wanted to try but didn't want to commit, buy a ticket for £12.50 per session and have a go. You might just find your next big passion. Or at least have a bloody good time trying.

My next brainstorm; creating an generative chromosthesic response to the incredible sonic immersion installation I'm building alongside staff & students of and

This binaural, fully immersive experience aims to reset using tone, melody and vibration to ease the mind and senses. A contemporary sound bath.

My experience of synaesthesia, specifically chromosthesic is usually communicated in 2D. This is my opportunity to open up my brain for you to walk into, relax and better understand the light show of every day.

This installation will stay in place for the entire 16th-18th July with performances throughout both Saturday sessions. Join us!

Just another average Monday evening at work. The wonderful Anne Qua and me putting the finishing touches to Team Westy's clay poppies for our installation for National Armed Forces Weekend. The whole team came together to sculpt poppies to display at the front of the building, even the Dino has a T-Rex size poppy.
