Watch Andy Scott's sculpture rise,100ft from the ground from start to finish, and discover the vision behind and creation of the Worlds largest pair of steel horses heads. Watch the full construction process as the Kelpies rise 100 foot from the ground to tower over the new Helix Parkland, and act as a gateway to the east of Scotland, for sailors travelling through the new section of the Forth & C

lyde canal, into Scotland's inland waterways. We will be posting unique photographs and short films capturing the process in full, as well as giving you full insight into the artists inspiration in his own words. Let’s go back in time to August 2012, when work on The Kelpies was yet to begin and The Helix was still a building site. Building would officially begin almost a year later in June 2013, where a team of over 100 would work tirelessly to bring them to life in the space of just a few months.

It was nothing short of an honour to welcome some very special guests at The Kelpies yesterday.

Bernie and his herd mate Harry have been travelling all over the country to raise awareness for Charlie Charlie One who help support veterans, serving personnel and military families affected by cancer.

There's no escaping it: The Kelpies are an incredible sight to behold. Best of all, thanks to the steel they're built from and the landscape that surrounds them, you'll never see them looking the same way twice.

This week, we're trialling different opening hours at our Visitor Centre. Instead of 09:00, we'll be opening at 08:30, giving you the opportunity to beat the crowds and enjoy your visit starting a little earlier in the day.

Update on disabled access at The Helix 👇

Our disabled parking spaces are now available again, however please bear in mind that there are access restrictions and temporary pedestrian diversions in place including a small footbridge as seen in the photo attached.

We have limited disabled parking available beside our Visitor Centre which avoids all pedestrian diversions. If you require footbridge free access, please chat to our friendly parking team when you arrive. If there are spaces available beside our Visitor Centre, they will let you through the barrier.

The Helix Visitor Centre is open as usual today, along with the car park and public toilets. Our disabled parking spaces are now available again, however please bear in mind that there are access restrictions and temporary pedestrian diversions in place.

Please note that parking spaces at the main car park are currently limited as Scottish Water are carrying out ongoing water main repair work to the south of the car park. While this is ongoing, they need their vehicles to be stationed nearby, within our car park.

Free parking is available at the Falkirk Stadium, just a short walk away from The Helix.
