Union St corner, Glasgow
So, here we are. My biggest and arguably most important wee miniature so far. Built completely to remember what a stunning building Glasgow has lost. I’ve said before, that I quickly forget buildings once they’ve come down but this one needs to be remembered! Such a big part of my childhood and meant so much to many other Glaswegians. I pondered on how to portray it as I was torn between my memories of it and how it was most recently but in tribute to the shops that were lost, I decided…. to do both! Hence, the old Bells Whisky sign. When it came to the Irn Bru sign, I had an epiphany. Throughout the build, I really wanted to honour the dozens of businesses that were literally stopped in their tracks through no fault of their own. As a small business myself, this is devastating and I came up with the idea of the photo frame as the digital screen. I trawled the internet for as many of the business logos I could find and my tech support (hubby) put them together for me. I apologise to anyone I’ve missed, I DID try and you can send me logos which I can add. Now, where will it go? I would absolutely love for it to be on display somewhere for everyone to see but ultimately, I need to sell it. I’ve reached out to and so far, so fingers crossed it finds its rightful place.
