Un jour, Thomas Alva Edison rentre à la maison et tend un billet à sa mère. Il lui dit : « Mon professeur m'a donné cette note et m'a dit de ne la donner qu'à vous ».

Les yeux de la mère se remplissent de larmes lorsqu'elle lit à haute voix la lettre apportée par son fils : « Votre fils est un génie, cette école est trop petite pour lui et nous n'avons pas les professeurs adéquats pour l'instruire, s'il vous plaît, enseignez-lui vous-même ».

C'est ainsi que la mère se consacra à l'éducation d'Edison.

Bien des années plus t**d, à la mort de sa mère, Edison est devenu l'un des plus grands inventeurs du siècle. Un jour, alors qu'il fouillait dans de vieilles affaires de famille, il trouva un morceau de papier plié dans un cadre à dessin sur son bureau.

Il le prit et l'ouvrit. Sur le papier était écrit :

« Votre fils est atteint d'une maladie mentale et nous ne pouvons pas l'autoriser à retourner à l'école ».

Edison pleura pendant des heures, puis écrivit dans son journal : « Thomas Alva Edison était un enfant mentalement malade, mais grâce à une mère héroïque, il est devenu le génie du siècle. »

👉 La réaction de la mère est impressionnante, n'est-ce pas ? Au lieu de lire ce que disait vraiment la lettre, et d'avoir pu faire en sorte que son fils se sente moins bien, elle l'a complètement détournée et a injecté de la confiance et de la certitude à son fils ! Elle lui a fait croire qu'il était un génie et il y a tellement cru qu'il a grandi et est mort en étant un génie.

C'est incroyable le pouvoir que les parents ont sur leurs enfants.

We are very very excited to announce that the marvellous Chad Mason will be our 'Featured Act' for the evening. A wonderful Singer Songwriter from Norfolk and the Organiser for the great 'The Music House Acoustic' Jurnet's Bar.

Growing up on the mean-ish streets of Oxford, Chad spent 17 years developing his eccentric, bittersweet view of the world before fumbling his first acoustic guitar chords on arrival in his adopted home of Norwich. His debut album “The Meandering Mind of Chad Mason” mixes the atmospheres of a Morricone soundtrack with the innocence of early Fairport, while live he strips it back, building a witty rapport with merely guitar, harmonica and his plaintive baritone. After a national tour, and various London dates, Chad began making his U.S. debut during South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. Radio appearances on Future (UK) and Breakthrough (N.Y.), as well as a video session for BBC Introducing heralded a well received set at Latitude Festival in July and a hugely successful homecoming gig at Norwich Sound and Vision in October.
In Spring he tried out new material on the open mic scene in New York City, culminating in a theatrical one man show with new songs, performed at London’s Roundhouse in May of that year - a commission from Central School of Speech and Drama's own Accidental Festival. He spent the autumn chronicling the songs and music from the show in new recording sessions, adding additional tunes to extend the project to a full album - entitled "May '14 and More" - which is released digitally and on cd through Waltz Time Records - the East London label run by acclaimed band Firestations.

British singer-songwriter, currently located in Norwich, UK. Performs solo (Vox/guitar/harmonica), though the records often branch out.
