Please welcome our second guest for the International men’s day special commissioned by the University of Cumbria!

Danny Prescott!

Danny Prescott; 48 years old, Chief Executive of UCSU since 2016.

I’ve worked in SU’s and Universities since 1998 specialising in representation and supporting student voice. I’m a father of an 11 year old daughter and step-father to another six year old, I’ve lived in Lancaster for 30 years since moving up from Shropshire although I’m originally from rural West Lancashire.

Outside of work I do bits of illustration and other art, play music, enjoy karaoke with my partner and kids, try to get out into the wide open spaces as much as possible. In terms of mental health I experience anxiety and have also struggled with depression in my life and have some understanding of the specific challenges arising from male mental health. From childhood I reacted against elements of masculine identity which is now classed as ‘toxic’, including misogyny, chauvinism, alcohol abuse, casual violence and aggression.

This is it our 3rd and final guest has been revealed and we can wait to get talking to these 3 amazing people! Join us Friday for the University of Cumbria Freshers Week special!

Please welcome: Lucy Haddath

Hi, my name is Lucy, your Academic Officer!

I studied Zoology at Fusehill street. I really enjoyed the course because such a wide variety of topics were covered and there was lots of practical elements and field trips, which is perfect for someone like me who can't sit still for long periods of time and likes hands-on learning.

As your Academic officer, I will be split between the Carlisle campuses (Fusehill St and Brampton Road), but you can also get in touch with me digitally! I am always happy to speak to people and I can't wait to meet you all! I am here to support academic reps, promote career advice, help academic societies and lots of other academic-related things!

Out of the three officers I often get labelled as the most organised one but what you should know is behind that organisation and planning is lots of cups of coffee - seriously if you ever see me without a coffee in my hand, something is wrong hahaha.
