Two Moors Festival

Two Moors Festival An annual classical music festival based across Exmoor and Dartmoor in Devon and Somerset, England.

In 2001, rural areas like Devon and Somerset were bitterly affected by the spread of the Foot and Mouth disease. Although the disease was wiped out after about a year, farming and tourism took a longer hit. Penny and John Adie decided to create a festival to bring cheer to the local people and the economy. Out of the ashes of Foot and Mouth disease came the Two Moors Festival. The festival was suc

h a success that it has continued to take place every year since. While it works much with local school children and charitable organisations, many highly talented musicians have performed and attended, awards have been won at events such as the Chelsea Flower Show and the festival is in association with Classic FM and has had recordings on BBC Radio 3.

We're commemorating the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, which began on 1 July 1916, with a special event at Stuckeridge House.

Ruaraidh Adams-Cairns, who has studied the Battle of the Somme extensively, leading numerous battlefield tours to the area, will give a talk interspersed with readings of poetry and letters relating to the battle.

Pianist Henry Lewis will perform music appropriate for the occasion, and a delicious tea will be served in the interval.

Our first Crowdfunder campaign is underway and we need your help to reach our target!

Having successfully undertaken outreach projects over the years, in 2026 we're planning on working with the Armonico Consort in Exeter and the Calidore String Quartet on Dartmoor to provide workshops within schools. We are also raising funding to subsidise free tickets for under 16's.

Donations of any amount make a huge difference - please give what you can today.
