Wedding Barn, Tedburn

August ended with rain. Which is fantastic for a farmer, but not so much for a bride and groom hoping for an outdoor wedding. However, Windout Barn in Tedburn had it covered with its charming rustic barn. Even a few birds and the resident cats joined the wedding party! The quartet got the best view by playing on the mezzanine floor over looking the ceremony. (Although we did have to take the slightly scary spiral staircase to get to the loo!).
The bride and groom requested some epic gaming and movie pieces for before, during and after the ceremony; If you haven’t heard ‘Dearly Beloved’ from Kingdom Hearts before, google it, it’s beautiful. We also played The Game of Thrones theme, The Rains of Castamere (what a belter!!), Cantina band from Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark theme! It was so much fun playing these pieces in a fantastic acoustic.

Well, it’s been a busy week but on Friday we had the pleasure of playing for a lovely couple at The Deer Park Country House🦌. The weather held out for an outside ceremony and the quartet played “I Can’t help Falling in Love’ as the wedding party walked down the aisle amongst the lavender and then ‘Concerning Hobbits’ and ‘Wildest Dreams’ for the signing and ‘Marry You’ as the confetti was thrown. After the wedding, we had a break and some yummy sandwiches provided by the Deer Park and then we serenaded the guests during the wedding breakfast. We had a special request by a guest to play ‘Creep’ by Radiohead, which we did, and she danced. It was a beautiful, tender moment in a busy, celebratory, joyous day. 🎻🎻🎻🎻The Deer Park Country House Hotel

Another lovely summer wedding, this time Rockbeare Manor. The quartet played a beautiful string version of ‘River Flows in You’ by Yurumi to welcome in the bridal party and ‘Rewrite the Stars’ from The Greatest Showman whilst the happy couple signed their wedding papers. Before we left, we were each given a gift of yummy brownies (they really were very yummy! 😋) and a card with a beautiful message from the bride and groom. It was so thoughtful of them and means such a lot. Thank you. 😊 🎻🎻🎻🎻

Yesterday, we were out as a 4 playing at the very gorgeous Brickhouse Vineyard. We always feel privileged to be a part of someone’s special day and we certainly felt welcomed and valued when we arrived and were each given a thoughtful gift from the bride and groom.
As the bridal party walked down the aisle, we played a new arrangement of ‘You are the Reason’ by Callum Scott and then a variety of pop pieces whilst everyone celebrated with a drink or two. 🎻🎻🎻🎻

We returned to one of our favourite venues yesterday Shilstone Weddings. A beautiful venue in the stunning Devon sunshine. Lots of classical favourites yesterday which is always nice to play and the bride made her entrance to a beautiful Japanese folk tune called Rondo of the house of flowers. This piece was a real pleasure to arrange for the special couple. After the outdoor ceremony we went in to the lovely gardens and played some more rock and pop covers for the drinks reception including Creep and Jurassic Park! Exe Valley String Quartet

The sun has come out at last and today we’re off to Shilstone House. Lots of classical pieces today, looking forward to playing Waltz from Sleeping Beauty at the end of the ceremony. 🎻🎻🎻🎻
