Brunei currently punishes homos*xuality by imprisonment of up to a decade, and will soon make it punishable by death. As a fellow Commonwealth country, the UK Government must urgently call for an end to human rights violations against the LGBT community in Brunei.

LGBT rights in Iran

" Le***an, gay, bis*xual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Iran face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. While people can legally change their assigned gender, s*xual activity between members of the same s*x is illegal.

LGBT rights in Iran have come in conflict with the penal code since the 1930s.[1] In post-revolutionary Iran, any type of s*xual activity outside a heteros*xual marriage is forbidden. Same-s*x s*xual activities are punishable by imprisonment,[2] corporal punishment, or ex*****on. Gay men have faced stricter enforcement actions under the law than le****ns.

Transgender identity is recognized through a s*x reassignment surgery. S*x reassignment surgeries are partially financially supported by the state. Some homos*xual individuals in Iran have been pressured to undergo s*x reassignment surgery in order to avoid legal and social persecution.[3] Iran carries out more s*x reassignment surgeries than any other country in the world after Thailand."
