Join the Alibi team! We’re looking for an organised, hands-on Administrator to keep our organisation running smoothly behind the scenes.

This role would suit someone who thrives on variety, takes pride in keeping things organised, and is happy to roll their sleeves up when needed. Arts experience is welcome but not essential. What matters most is that you're reliable, proactive, and care about the work Alibi does.

If it sounds of interest, we'd encourage you to get in touch before applying with any questions, and to discuss how the role could work for you.

Closing date for applications is 9am Monday 29 June.

We were so sad to hear, last week, of the death of Peter Thomson, Alibi’s first Chair as well as father to our much loved former colleague Annie Chave. Peter was an extraordinary man. Professor of Drama at Exeter University - charismatic, fiercely intelligent, mischievous and immensely supportive. A man of action to whom we owe a great deal. Here are a few words from Tim Spicer, one of the company’s co-founders:

“Peter was Alibi’s first chair, and it is hard to overstate his contribution to the company. Along with his wisdom and academic brilliance, he used the weight of legitimacy his professorial status lent to great effect.

Among many other things Peter was instrumental in Alibi using Emmanuel Hall for rehearsal and office space (Up until then the office had been in our kitchen and our rehearsals in beer soaked student bars or dusty Nissan huts among un-sold jumble.)

Peter talked to George (George Roman, then Artistic Director of the Northcott Theatre who no doubt Peter had been influential in appointing) and after a five minute tour of the building, accompanied by wild Hungarian gestures of magnanimity Alibi’s base appeared, as if by magic. Peter’s magic.

There’s a bar in Heaven with the cricket on.”

Thank you, Peter, from us all.

✨Jovie appreciation post! ✨

Yesterday we said goodbye to the brilliant Jovie - a third year Film & Drama student at Exeter (and generally excellent person) that over the last 8 months has been supporting all things Alibi as a Production and Marketing Volunteer.

From getting stuck into spreadsheets to working on design, administration and production tasks, Jovie has been brilliant - and a wonderful part of the team. If this is what young people entering the industry today are like, we'd say there's a lot to be hopeful for.

Thank you, Jovie!🧡

Over the Summer, we are hoping to have some time where children can come in and read to our Cuddly Toys..
But for that we need some Cuddly Toys!
If you have a toy that is in good condition and you think would like to come and live at the Library - please do think about donating them so they can be read to every Friday over the summer.

We are so pleased to announce a brand new partnership for 2026-2027!

DH Psychology is joining us as Named Venue Sponsor for Alibi over the next 12 months, with support across our whole programme.

DH Psychology offers high quality diagnostic assessments and support for neurodivergent children and adults. Dr Duncan Harris, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, leads the team and is committed to support that helps people who are autistic and/or have ADHD to develop a better understanding of themselves, their strengths and what can help with the challenges they face.

We are delighted to be partnering with a local service that shares our values, and commitment to local families:

"I am so pleased to be supporting the experiences Alibi offers children and people to embrace their individual playfulness, passions, and imagination. Childhood is such a special period of time where ideas, moments of connection, and fun can be so readily experienced in heightened and powerful ways. Having worked with children as a youth and support worker, and in mental health assessment services, I've been continually inspired by children's ability to access their resilience and creativity when the right setting is created for them to feel safe and engaged. I've taken my own children to several Alibi performances over the years and have seen firsthand how the skilled staff and performers create moments for children (and their families) that will be remembered for a lifetime." - Dr Duncan Harris
