Sometimes people (especially creators/artists) don't get given a real chance to let go and have fun with their craft or fulfill their true potential. We're all expected to be "perfect" and we get pulled out of doing things before we can even show what we're capable of... we're reduced a lot of the time to watching other people have all the fun opportunities and steal all the glory from us because at some point or other we were deemed "losers" or "not good enough".
If you want to paint, you should be allowed to paint; if you want to dance, you should be allowed to dance; if you want to sing, you should be allowed to sing. But most of us who can do these things don't get a real chance to and when we do, we're sabotaged and not given the support we need to get to the level we want to be at.
No, the world seems to only favour those who tick certain boxes that, frankly, don't matter. They want to enforce rigid rules that restrict your ability to do the job to its highest standard in the first place; they don't give you all the information you need and they expect you to be the one to give everything you've got before they give you a clue as to where you need to get to, wasting your energy and talent.
This is a lot like life in general.
They don't care that you have the aptitude, and it's all a competition/game which they don't want anyone to win, unless they say so.
I would love to be recognised for my artistic abilities and skills, to the point where I can actually give up my part time job to pursue my hobbies full time, and get paid for it, but it's as if I've hit a brick wall and no one wants anyone to actually have fun anymore.
Joy is a luxury that we have to earn through hard, gruelling, manual labour and then when we're done with that labour, we're too tired to even feel joy to its fullest extent.
I used to imagine that I could have the potential to dance and play a role in the musical Cats, but I'm sure some people would look at me and shake their heads/laugh their arses off at the thought of me actually becoming good at that, and not give me the option to do it - even just for the fun of it.
