Our performance and community projects strive to amplify women's voices and share real-life stories of women in the 21st Century. Chhaya Collective are a female-led dance company working between UK and India. We bring people together through our performance work, community projects, workshops and events - all of which combine dance, music, theatre and visual arts. We aim to create collaborative, cross cultural and interdisciplinary work that speaks in multiple tongues.

Celebrating over a decade of Chhaya Collective’s work 🔥

⚡️ Here we have the powerhouse that is from our early creation of KHAOS

⚡️ KHAOS went through many transformations and tours with some wonderful Chhaya Collective artists, touring nationally and internationally 2017 - 2022

⚡️ KHAOS featured 6 dancers and 3 live musicians - all of which remained on stage for the entire hour

⚡️ KHAOS really packed a punch and we hope to revive the work one day for another tour

🗞️ Funny because our director .crook was always asked about specific Indian food and regional delicacies, so half the interview would focus on dance and half around food! Kay was quoted as describing something as ‘lip smacking’ …not a phrase we remember using but entertaining to read…!

Celebrating over a decade of Chhaya Collective’s work, here’s our on site research and production in India as part of our ‘Falling Light in Liminal Spaces Project’.

☀️ Shining a light on the beautiful rural/traditional communities surrounding Bengaluru, who were at risk of being erased by the real estate & the shadows of the expanding city.

☀️ We were lucky enough to work with the legend that is , who helped us to research, translate and document the process

☀️ Plus our incredible filmmaker who dealt very well with having a constant audience while filming us on site!

☀️ This research fed into our stage production ‘Falling Light’, which toured India, Portugal, Germany and UK
