Last night, Taste East Devon Festival 2026 officially launched at Darts Farm’s Pebblebed Vineyard , thanks to Darts Farm for hosting us. Speeches, a vineyard tour and wine tasting set the tone for nine days celebrating the food, drink and people of East Devon.

None of this happens without our sponsors. Huge thanks to NFU Mutual Exeter, Tiverton and South Molton, Goosemoor - Food Service, Coreus Group, Clockwork Marketing, Sungift Solar and East Devon for backing the festival.

Thank you too to our steering committee, who shape and deliver the festival every year: Fiona Moores, Ruud Jansen Venneboer (Mazzard Farm), John Crouch (East Devon Excellence), Anthony Letcher (Southleigh Holidays) and George Dart (Darts Farm).

And a huge thank you to our festival ambassador, Michael Caines MBE DL MBE, for championing East Devon’s food and drink scene and helping bring this festival to life.

The festival runs 12 to 20 September, food is our common ground, a universal language, and there’s something for everyone across East Devon.

What does it take to grow wine on the banks of the Exe?

As part of Taste East Devon Festival, Lympstone Manor’s Operations Director and Vineyard Manager Steve Edwards hosts a tour of the estate’s southwest-facing vines, followed by a three-course lunch in the Pool House Restaurant. It’s a chance to see firsthand how a stretch of parkland overlooking the estuary became one of the county’s most talked-about vineyards.

The morning starts with tea, coffee and biscuits, moves into the vineyard tour, and finishes with a glass of Lympstone Manor Classic Cuvée before lunch.

📍 Lympstone Manor, Courtlands Lane, Exmouth EX8 3NZ
🕥 Wednesday 16 September, 10:15am to 3:00pm
£105 per person, with additional drinks and extras charged on the day. Book via the Lympstone Manor website.

Explore more East Devon: is a short drive away for local produce and artisan makers, and The Salutation Inn in Topsham is worth a visit for fresh, locally caught fish.

As part of Taste East Devon Festival, we’re heading to Clinton Devon Estates for an evening with Wildlife Ranger Tom Garner, learning how deer are managed across the estate.

You’ll start in one of the Estate’s woodlands, where Tom talks through the realities of deer management: the challenges, the responsibilities, and what it takes to keep a healthy population. From there it’s on to the deer larder in Colaton Raleigh, where he’ll explain what happens after deer are culled and how the venison is processed. There’s a chance to buy some locally sourced venison before you head home.

Two hours, outdoors, so come dressed for it: walking boots or wellies recommended.

📍 Rolle Estate Office, Budleigh Salterton
🕕 Wednesday 16 September, 6pm to 8pm
£10 per person, booking via the link in bio

Make a day of it: fuel up beforehand with lunch at Lympstone Manor Hotel, Restaurant and Vineyard’s Pool House Restaurant, or afternoon tea at the The Donkey Sanctuary Sidmouth. Or stay over and pair it with Rachel’s kimchi workshop at Darts Farm and a Darts Farm’s Pebblebed Vineyard vineyard tour. Full details for all of these on the festival website, link in bio.

“We’re far stronger when we share our collective voice.”

As festival ambassador and chef/patron of Lympstone Manor, Michael Caines MBE knows exactly what makes East Devon’s food and drink scene special: the people behind it. From farmers and growers to winemakers, producers, chefs and hospitality businesses, Taste East Devon Festival exists to bring that community together and celebrate it as one voice.

Two Michelin stars for 18 consecutive years, a Michelin star at Lympstone Manor within six months of opening, an MBE for services to hospitality: Michael’s credentials speak for themselves. But it’s his belief in East Devon’s producers and growers that makes him the perfect ambassador for this festival.

12–20 September. Nine days celebrating the people who make this region taste the way it does.

Grape to glass, right here in East Devon.

As part of Taste East Devon Festival, we’re heading to Lily Farm Vineyard near Budleigh Salterton, a small family-run vineyard producing award-winning still and sparkling wines from grapes grown entirely on site since 2005.

Join one of the owners for a guided walk through the vines, hear their story, and learn how English wine is made from planting through to harvest. The morning finishes with a tasting of four award-winning still wines, with bottles available to take home.

🍇 Lily Farm Vineyard, Dalditch Lane, Budleigh Salterton
🗓️ Saturday 12 September, 11am–12:30pm
💷 £18 per person
📞 Book via 07977 057864 or [email protected]

Make a day of it: Pebblebed Vineyard’s tour starts at 3 pm just 15 minutes away, and Otterton Mill’s Open Day is a 7-minute drive down the road, all part of the festival’s celebration of food and drink across East Devon.

Over 1,000 years of grinding grain, one very good reason to visit.

Otterton Mill kicks off Taste East Devon Festival this year, and it’s the perfect place to start. Watch the wheel turn and the millers at work using techniques that go back to the Domesday Book, then taste the results fresh from the artisan bakery and award-winning cafe.

Wander the riverside trails, browse local makers’ stalls, and keep your eyes peeled along the Otter: the resident beavers have a habit of making an appearance.

Something a little different for this year’s line-up: Glebe House’s Sauna and Dine package.

Think Nordic-style wellness, East Devon views, then a seasonal feast to finish it off.

A private hour in the wood-fired sauna, a cold plunge to shock the system awake, a hot outdoor shower, and a chilled shot with fresh fruit before you head in for lunch or dinner. It’s the full reset, heat to cold to table, and, unlike anything else on the festival programme this year.

Running throughout the festival, Saturday 12 to Sunday 20 September. Bring 2 to 6 people, pick your slot (sauna at 11am into a 12.30 lunch, or 6pm into a 7.30 dinner), and let the rest take care of itself. Packages start from £157 for two.
