🌀 The Washing Machine of Destiny: Still Spinning (Even if It’s Been a Bit Quiet Lately…) 🌀
It’s been a while since we last posted an update – but that’s not because nothing’s been happening. Quite the opposite!
We were planning to launch a brand-new show this year, but life, as it often does, reshuffled the schedule. So our next full production is now set for 2026. In the meantime, we’ve been throwing ourselves into some brilliant creative projects we’re really proud of. Here’s what we’ve been up to...
🎧 Soundscapes at Exeter College
Since spring, we’ve been running two inclusive theatre workshops with a teenage group at Exeter College.
With around 20 participants – mostly students, but some staff too – we’ve been co-creating a rich soundscape: voices, everyday sounds, music, and stories about stress, overwhelm, and how we cope. It’s heartfelt, expressive, and (in true Washing Machine of Destiny style) unexpectedly funny too.
🎬 Philip and Luca are editing the final piece over summer, and we’ll be premiering it this Autumn.
📚 ‘Other’ Stories with The Turning Tides Project CIC
Luca and I are thrilled to be part of “And ‘Other’ Stories”, a multi-artist project led by Turning Tides, focused on the lived experiences of disabled artists.
As part of this, we’ll be taking our workshop model into Pathfield Special School in Barnstaple this September, working with a younger age group to collect and make stories together. These creative pieces will join the And ‘Other’ Stories online archive, alongside work from other artists across Devon.
🎭 Back at Kairos College
We were also invited to return to Kairos College, near South Brent – part of the Breakthrough Transformation Trust, offering therapeutic education for neurodiverse young adults.
There, we ran a Forum Theatre workshop with students and staff. Together, we explored options when confronted by everyday challenges, specifically for those who are autistic.
Luca said:
“I really enjoyed meeting the group. I loved how passionate they were about the workshop. Acting out the scenes and trying different responses was so fun and useful – it helped all of us think in new ways.”
Phil added:
“Today we made theatre that will be useful for people to live better lives.”
📣 The End Is in the Beginning – New Page Alert!
Many of you already know about The End is in the Beginning – the duet Samuel Beckett show Philip is making with Sarah White.
We’re excited to share that the project now has its own page where you can follow its journey, development, and future tour plans.

So while we’ve been quiet online, we’ve been deep in collaboration, creativity, and story-making. Thanks for sticking with us — and watch this space for more soon. 💙🌀
