🏆 A huge night for escape rooms in Devon & Cornwall!
Friday night the UK Escape Room Awards announced their 2026 results.
We'll admit, we're a little gutted that neither The Lost Temple nor The Wizards of Wyvern made the UK Top 50 after reaching the finals. But are so grateful that the rooms were both nominated as some visitors very favourite rooms 💙
But there's also an awful lot to celebrate.
Fear of the Unknown at Enigma Escape Cornwall in Truro was named the #1 escape room in the entire UK! An absolutely phenomenal achievement. 👏
Closer to home, The Rubicon at Roomsmiths Escape Rooms ( #20), Overnight Escapes - Cornwall ( #29) and House of Clues at Excape: Exmouth Escape Rooms ( #30) all earned places in the UK Top 50.
Camelot at Housetrap Escape Rooms and Pudding Lane at Cronologic Escape Rooms Plymouth were also recognised as Regional Highly Commended.
We've played and even voted for several of these experiences ourselves, so seeing them recognised is genuinely lovely. And further afield, lots of our friends across the industry had a fantastic night too. To see hard work be recognised is always amazing.
Of course, whenever there's a ranking, we'd all secretly love to be number one. Escape rooms themselves are a bit like that. We'd all quite like to be the person who cracks the big puzzle, but ultimately it's the shared journey that makes them special and it's the ability to step back and celebrate the success of another that makes for the strongest teams.
Perhaps there's a bigger challenge here for all of us too.
Most of the people who walk through our doors haven't played the 50 UK escape rooms needed to participate in the UK Escape Room Awards.
Our collective goal should be to make someone's first escape room so special that they want to play a second. Then a tenth. And perhaps, eventually, a fiftieth.
Every great experience helps another person discover just how brilliant escape rooms can be. Every fantastic room in Devon and Cornwall gives people another reason to visit our little corner of the country and keep playing. And every operator across the country creating something brilliant helps our industry grow.
There are also countless fantastic rooms that won't appear on an awards list. Rankings can only ever tell part of the story. Behind all of them are people putting an enormous amount of time, creativity and love into creating magical moments for their guests.
And that includes the people who make things like these awards possible.
A massive thank you and congratulations to the team behind the UK Escape Room Awards too. UKERA is put together by escape room enthusiasts who give their time to celebrate great experiences and support the industry they love. Things like this don't happen without people willing to put the work in behind the scenes. 💙
So yes, we'd have loved to have made the Top 50 this year. Instead, we'll take some inspiration from those who did and carry on doing what we love: learning, improving and creating the very best experiences we possibly can.
Because ultimately, when the escape room scene around us gets better, we all win.
