The topsy-turvy turvy calendar of an illustrator. Christmas is around the corner, so let's start planning...Halloween!

Getting some linework done whilst the storm rages outside. It kind of helps when drawing spooky. Then I'd better start on Christmas 2025.

Weekend Field Trip
Spending a breezy (hence the hair!) Sunday, strolling and sketching along the Jurassic Coast. The crab sandwiches were a bit of a draw, too.

Hello, is it me you're looking for? Same address, new look. I thought it was time to clear out the old drawers and have a refresh. It will be updated regularly, and I hope to launch a shop at some point, so save me in your bookmarks if you want to follow along!

Many thanks for your support. It is much appreciated.

1st November. This year is going fast! If you bought the RSPB family organiser 2024, you'll recognise this image. I intended to post each new calendar image on the first of every month, but this shows how long it took me to remember to do that!

I'll just have to do better with the next one. It'll be a hoot. Pun intended, as that one has baby owls on the cover. And who can resist a baby owl?

I was recently asked to think about what I really love to illustrate the most. What I could draw again and again and again without feeling at all compromised or jaded. There isn't just one thing, but this one seems to have it all.

Places. The landscape, the architecture, the people, the wildlife, the food. And if it includes a nautical element, all the better!

The 2025 RSPB Family Organiser Calendar has taken flight! One of my favourite products to illustrate. Moving from water to woodland, from Goldcrests to Capercaillie. Flock now to the RSPB shop and many other retailers. Owl see you later...

Any excuse for a field trip...

I've been working on a commission for a lovely group of people requesting me to illustrate their beautiful village. This is a favourite walk of mine, but sometimes it's nice to revisit somewhere with an artwork in mind.

And the fact it required a refuelling in a riverside café? Pretty much a perfect day in my book.

It's the 100-year anniversary of The Shipping Forecast being broadcast on air!

On January 1st, 1924, the first radio broadcast of the The Shipping Forecast was made from the Air Ministry Station in London.

Keeping mariners safe, it has also become the nation's lullaby to many (including me!)

It can now be found on BBC Radio 4, produced by the MET Office on behalf of the Martime and Coastguard Agency.

How serendipitous that my first order of the year should be for my Shipping Forecast print. On its way to the beautiful Isle of Skye.

Available in my etsy shop in many formats, I hope this anniversary year will be safe and fortuitous for all.

Happy New Year to all the sailors, seafarers, and armchair adventurers.
