Hannah Oram Art Doctor turned Artist - painting to share the sparkle and joy I see in the world!

An absolute joy to paint the fruit and veg garden at Rosemoor this week. This is the layout all done and ready to colour-in! I love that I’m literally in a bed of chard and it’s so massive - I can’t convey with words how amazing the rainbow chard is here - hats off to the gardeners - fantastic veg! And the lettuces - beautiful rows of perfect gems!💕I’m here every Tuesday as artist in residence and other days too ad hoc. Next Wednesday is workshop day if you fancy a group paint! I’m very excited about capturing this stunning garden into canvas and I hope I can convey how truly uplifting being here is!

So a crazy wonderful invite came my way and I couldn’t say yes fast enough! I am very blown away and grateful to have started my new role as artist in residence RHS Garden Rosemoor . Today I popped up some work in the beautiful gallery room in the gardens and also embarked on my first en plein air paint, and it was really lovely to chat to garden visitors who were curious and I even had a helping hand painting from a little visitor who came with her grandparents - more to follow ###

Just finished my professional signage! I do like to have everything labelled so visitors know where things are, that it’s ok to dive in and have a rummage and to point out the freebies! Hope to see you ### EX10 in the Deon Open Studio guide

Here’s a chance to look into a sketch file of mine so you can see a little about what inspires me and how my brain works before I create a painting. I enjoyed reminiscing with a flick through. I’ve got stacks of these if you’re curious and want to come and visit during Devon Open Studios to see the inspiration to the process and the finished result. I’m open daily from the 12-19th Sept and I’m EX10 in the online and paper guide😊.

I cannot tell you how excited I was to stumble across the same street I’d snapped a year ago in Paris and then more recently painted. It took my breath away because I had learnt that street, painting the cobbles, the windows, the cars. The everything and it felt like I was running through my picture. Montmartre, you are a very special place.
