Plein-air with Melanie Cambridge 🎨

What a wonderful day of plein air painting in the beautiful surroundings of Beddington Park on Wednesday.

We were delighted to be led by artist Melanie Cambridge, who began the session with demonstrating her approach to painting from observation.

It was fascinating to watch Melanie's painting develop step by step from the initial shapes and composition through to the layers of colour, light and detail. Her demonstration gave us plenty of inspiration and encouraged us to look more closely at the landscape around us.

We then spent the afternoon painting and sketching in the grounds, taking the opportunity to put some of Melanie's ideas into practice while enjoying the park and each other's company.

A big thank you to Melanie Cambridge for sharing her knowledge, techniques and passion for plein air painting with us. We really enjoyed the day and took away lots of inspiration for our own work.

Visitor Choice Award! Most Votes Overall✨

We're delighted to celebrate Debbi Rule, whose beautiful wildlife artwork received the most public votes overall at our Summer Art Exhibition at Denbies Wine Estate.

Debbi shares what this recognition means to her:

"I'm absolutely thrilled and incredibly touched that my wildlife artwork received the most public votes overall at the Summer Art Exhibition at Denbies Wine Estate.
Having my work chosen by the visitors who came along to see the exhibition means so much to me. I put a huge amount of love, time and emotion into my wildlife drawings, so knowing that they connected with so many people is a very special feeling.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to look at my work and, especially, to those who voted for me."

A huge congratulations to Debbi on this wonderful achievement!🌿

Plein Air Painting! A New Location!🎨

This week we took our easels to The Old Moat Garden Centre in Epsom, finding inspiration among the plants, flowers and changing colours of the garden centre.

There's something wonderful about painting outdoors, slowing down, observing what's around us and capturing the atmosphere of a place in paint.

Another lovely day of painting together, sharing ideas and enjoying the simple pleasure of creating outdoors.🌿

✨Visitor Choice Results at Denbies Exhibition✨

At each exhibition we invite our visitors to vote for their favourite artwork. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share what inspired you.

We're delighted to announce that Caroline Webster was awarded Best in Show at our recent Denbies exhibition for her beautiful piece, 'Wild Waters.’ The picture is pastel drawing.
Most Votes Overall was Debbi Rule.

Here Caroline shares the story behind her painting:

'This is a pastel painting drawn from my inspiration of the coast of Brittany. I love the beauty of untamed nature and a breaking wave revealing a myriad of greens, turquoises and blues is an exhilarating subject to paint.'

A huge congratulations to both Caroline Webster and Debbi Rule who have received vouchers kindly provided by Pullingers Art Shop in Epsom.

And a heartfelt thank you to for your continued support at all our exhibitions, we truly appreciate it!

🎨From exhibition walls to the open air!

After the Epsom & Ewell Art Group exhibition came to an end, our artists took their paints outside and continued creating together in the beautiful surroundings of Nonsuch Park.

There's something special about plein air painting, stepping outdoors, observing the changing light, colours and atmosphere and capturing a moment directly from nature.

It was wonderful to see our group coming together again, exchanging ideas, enjoying the fresh air and, of course, getting paint on the canvas!

A beautiful way to keep the creativity flowing beyond the exhibition.😊

And that's a wrap on our wonderful Summer Exhibition at Denbies! 🌼🎨

A huge thank you to everyone who came through the doors, spent time enjoying the artwork, chatted with our artists, shared our posts, voted for their favourite pieces and supported local art in so many ways.

It has been wonderful to see so many people connecting with the work and, especially, to see some of our paintings finding new homes.❤️

We'd also like to say a very special thank you to all the talented artists who took part, and to everyone behind the scenes who helped bring the exhibition together. Your time, creativity and enthusiasm made it such a special event.

Exhibitions are not only about the paintings on the walls, they are about bringing people together, sharing ideas, discovering new artists and creating connections through art.

We're incredibly grateful to have shared this experience with you all.

Until the next exhibition... ✨🎨
