We’re looking for tattoo artists to join our circle.
We’re looking for artists who share our values and believe that every tattoo matters.
Whether it’s a tiny name, someone’s first tattoo, a cover-up or a large scale custom project every client deserves the same time, care and respect.
For us, a big part of being a tattoo artist is the experience you create around the tattoo. We want our clients to feel comfortable asking questions and able to take their time to talk through their ideas knowing they’ll get honest advice without judgement.
We’re looking to work with people who are approachable, professional, good communicators and genuinely care about the people they tattoo.
We’re currently open to guest artists as well as artists looking for a more regular home, working Wednesday–Saturday, with the opportunity to do more days as the business grows.
We want to build something together, so we’re looking for artists who want to grow with Outer Circle, contribute to the studio and be part of creating the kind of environment we believe a tattoo studio should be.

So, why the name change? The short answer is:

The old name just didn’t fit anymore.

When I started the studio back in 2015, the aim was simple: to create a space where people could explore tattoos and piercings without feeling intimidated or judged. Somewhere you could ask questions, take your time, be yourself and feel comfortable throughout the process.

Over the years, the studio has grown and evolved, and so have we. Having to step away for a few years gave me the opportunity to take a proper step back and think about where we were going, what I wanted this space to be, and what I wanted to build going forward.

I realised that the things I care about extend beyond the tattoo and piercing studio. I work with all kinds of artists, performers and creative businesses, helping create spaces, events and opportunities where people can do good work in a safe, supportive and professional environment.
I wanted a name that could bring all of that together, while still keeping tattooing and piercing at the heart of what we do.

And that’s where Outer Circle came from.

The name is a little nod to Birmingham’s famous 11 bus route, but it also has a meaning that really resonated with me: you don’t have to be in the inner circle to belong.
We’re all connected.

The studio isn’t becoming anything different. We’re still here doing what we’ve always believed in: creating a calm, welcoming and professional place to get tattooed or pierced, with honest advice, good communication and no judgement.

We’re just bringing that ethos to the forefront, and giving ourselves room to grow.

We are off to conference!

The UKAPP UKAPP annual conference will be held in Nottingham later this month and we will be learning all things piercing.

This year Matt Matt Clarke | Birmingham Body Piercer will be returning to his home city to volunteer at conference as well as attending classes (and visiting the expo floor) while Amy amy will be attending her very first conference classes as well as organising the conference closing party with Junipurr Jewelry and ProBodyArt.com

This means there will be no piercing services from the 12th-16th September and no one available for tattoo enquiries from 13th-16th September. We will both be back in the studio as normal from the 17th.

*studio update* Come check out some of the changes we have made in the studio. It might be slow progress but we are enjoying the process of working together to make this a beautiful accessibile space to welcome our clients.

amy has a new front desk and bookcase filled with piercing and tattoo history and art reference books, feel free to come take a book at our library (and curio cabinet)

Matt Clarke | Birmingham Body Piercer has a new bigger display cabinet for all the stunning piercing jewellery he stocks

stiofán ó flannabhra has a new comfortable bed for clients with one on the way for 𝖈𝖍𝖑𝖔𝖊 𝖜𝖆𝖑𝖑 soon and we've opened up the room as much as possible to make it as wheelchair accessible as we can (with room dividers available for privacy).
