The Horton Arts Centre is commissioning an artist for panoramic artworks inspired by the history of music therapy at Horton Hospital.

The programme began at Horton in 1955, the first of its kind in Europe, and the approach developed there became the foundation of the clinical specialism practised today. We are the hospital’s former chapel, the only part of it left standing, and the room converted for music therapy in 1961 is our performance space now. The artworks will be displayed in the corridor beside it.

This commission will be part of our The Music of Life project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

We welcome applications from artists and designers working in collage, print, drawing, painting, photography and photogravure, and from anyone whose work might suit the brief. The artwork proposed does not have to be 2D.

Deadline for Expressions of Interest is on 30th Aug.
