Questions you should be asking your plastic surgeon before booking

Doing your research is an important part of making an informed decision.

Here are a few questions I recommend you ask.

🏥 Which hospital will my surgery take place in?

• Is the facility registered with the Care Quality Commission?
• Read the latest report on safety.

How are complications managed?
• What are the possible risks and complications?
• Who do I contact if I have concerns after surgery?
• What is the aftercare and follow-up process?

📸Can I see realistic healed results?
• Can I see before-and-after examples from patients who had the same procedure?
• Ideally, results at 3, 6, and 12 months not just early post-op photos.

Choosing a surgeon is not just about the procedure — it’s also about safety, standards, and the support you receive throughout your journey. 💙

Gynecomastia is the swelling or enlargement of glandular breast tissue (not just fat) in males. It is typically caused by a hormonal imbalance.

The scars left from the surgery can often make clients worried about removing their shirts.

But did you know you can easily cover these scars with specialist tattooing?

Scar hypersensitivity is when a scar becomes unusually sensitive to touch or other sensations.

The area around or on the scar may feel painful, tender, itchy, burning, tingling, numb, or overly reactive to things that normally would not bother the skin (such as clothing rubbing against it).

It can happen because:

Nerves are healing or have been irritated during the injury or surgery. Small nerve endings in the skin can become more sensitive as they regrow.
The nervous system becomes more responsive after an injury, causing normal sensations to feel stronger than expected.

Scar tissue can restrict movement of the skin and underlying tissues, creating pulling, tightness, or discomfort.
Inflammation or irritation around the scar can contribute to sensitivity.

Common sensations include:
Sharp or “electric” pains
Burning or prickling feelings
Increased sensitivity to pressure or light touch
Itching that feels difficult to relieve.
Discomfort from fabric or contact with the area
Management often includes:
Desensitisation therapy (gently exposing the scar to different textures, pressures, or temperatures over time)
Scar massage once the wound has fully healed and a healthcare professional has confirmed it is appropriate
Moisturising and skin care
Movement and stretching if stiffness or adhesions are contributing
In some cases, assessment by a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or clinician if symptoms persist.

I never thought I’d be writing this post, but after 20 incredible years working within the NHS, I have made the decision to resign.

I wanted to leave at the right time — on a high, with my team missing me, rather than feeling like they were ready for me to go.

What started as a little side hustle has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined.

Trying to balance my NHS role, a growing business, and being the best mother and wife I can be has taken a huge toll on my wellbeing.

I will always love being a nurse, and that part of me isn’t going anywhere.

I’ll continue caring for people in a different capacity through bank shifts, consulting, and providing the highest level of care to all my clients.

Once a nurse, always a nurse. 💙

I want to thank everyone who has supported me and helped make this leap possible. Walking away from a job I have loved for 9 1/2 years has taken courage, but I know it is the right decision for me and my family.

I’m going to miss my amazing team more than words can say, but I know they will continue to do incredible things — even with me no longer there.

Thank you for everything. 💖🥹

I was diagnosed with dyslexia at university 20 years ago.

Looking back, I think what they really missed was high-functioning ADHD.

I’m one of those women who appears to have it all together. Successful career. Organised. Reliable. Always on top of things.

But what people don’t see is the mental effort behind it all.

• Multiple calendars, to-do lists, reminders and alarms just to keep life running smoothly.

• Looking calm on the surface while mentally planning every possible scenario the moment I walk into a room.

• Replaying conversations for days afterwards, analysing what I said and what I should have said.

• Arriving 30 minutes early because the thought of being late creates overwhelming anxiety.

• A mind that never really switches off.

The only times it goes quiet are when I’m exercising or asleep.

For years, people saw capability. What they didn’t see was the constant mental juggling happening behind the scenes.

I’m beginning to realise that being “high functioning” doesn’t mean something isn’t hard. It often means you’ve become exceptionally good at hiding how hard it is.

Anyone else diagnosed later in life and suddenly had their whole story make sense?

What a beautiful email to receive 💖

I’ve been nominated by one of my amazing clients to be included in Cancer Care Map 🗺️

I tattoo hundreds of patients every year following a cancer diagnosis.
And treat many more with therapy treatments such as massage and cosmetic tattooing, that might be turned away by beauticians, due to their active cancer 😔

So it means the world that my little business, based within the incredible Primrose Beauty, can be recognised and put on the map for even more patients to find 🩷🥹

A huge thank you to the client who nominated me, and to everyone who continues to trust me with such an important part of their journey.

Moments like this remind me why I love what I do. ✨

Thinking about cosmetic surgery in the UK?

Before choosing a plastic surgeon:

✅ Check they are on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery
✅ Look for membership of BAPRAS or BAAPS
✅ Look for training credentials for plastic surgery

More tips
✅ Make sure your consultation is with the surgeon who will perform the procedure
✅ Avoid pressure sales tactics, discounts, or “limited-time offers”
✅ Ask where the surgery will take place and whether the facility is CQC registered
✅ Understand the risks, recovery time, and what happens if complications occur

A reputable surgeon will welcome questions and give you time to make an informed decision. Your safety matters more than finding the cheapest option.

Bit late to the party, but after discovering Ink & Heal this week, I knew it was going to be a game-changer for my clients and their tattoo treatments.
Acting as a glide, cleanser, and protective skin barrier all in one, I’ve completely fallen in love with this product.

It made all four of my **la clients today an absolute breeze, with the skin remaining comfortable and well-supported throughout the treatment.

What I love most is the thoughtfully chosen natural ingredients:

✨ Shea & Cocoa Butter – Deeply nourish the skin while creating a protective barrier against moisture loss.
✨ Coconut Oil – Naturally softens the skin and offers light antibacterial properties.
✨ Cupuaçu Butter – Helps maintain elasticity and supports skin recovery.
✨ Jojoba Oil – Balances the skin and absorbs beautifully without leaving a greasy residue.
✨ Candelilla Wax – Provides that smooth glide and excellent skin adherence during treatment.
✨ Vitamin E & Rosemary Extract – Powerful antioxidants that help protect the skin and support renewal.
✨ Bergamot & Orange Peel Oils – Added in minimal, skin-safe amounts for a subtle botanical scent.

For anyone working in , **larestoration, or , it’s definitely worth checking out. The texture, glide, and post-treatment feel are exceptional, and my clients loved it too 🩷
