🐾 Bringing your dog to Emsworth Show? Please plan for the warmer weather ☀️
At the moment, our Dog Show is going ahead as planned on Monday 31st August, but with warm weather expected, we want everyone bringing a four-legged visitor to put their welfare first.
If you’re planning on bringing your dog along, please:
💧 Bring plenty of water – there will be water refill points around the Show, so make sure you have a bottle and bowl with you.
🌳 Plan for shade – there are trees around the showground, but on a busy day lots of people (and dogs!) will be making a beeline for the same shady speots. If you can, bring something that will provide your dog with their own shade.
🐶 Keep a close eye on your dog – excessive panting, heavy drooling, lethargy, weakness, confusion, vomiting or struggling to walk can all be warning signs that a dog is becoming dangerously hot. Don’t wait for your dog to become distressed before getting them somewhere cooler.
🏡 Know your dog – if your dog struggles in warmer weather, is elderly, very young, overweight, flat-faced, has a thick coat or has a health condition that makes coping with heat more difficult, please seriously consider whether they would be happier and safer staying at home.
❤️ There is absolutely nothing wrong with leaving your dog at home. We know it’s lovely to include them in a family day out, but sometimes the kindest decision is to let them snooze somewhere cool while you enjoy the Show.
We want everyone to have a fantastic Emsworth Show – including our four-legged visitors – so please come prepared, keep checking on your dog throughout the day and put their welfare before everything else.
🐾 If in doubt, leave them at home where it’s cool and safe.
