“I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Gaz for the first time while he was our MD for Bury Operatic & Dramatic Society's production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" which was a huge success! Gaz was a fantastic MD who helped us out on an amazing show and led our wonderful band each night. He handled this position with professionalism and expertise, which is saying a lot, because JCS isn't the easiest of scores to teach a huge cast!!
I then went to Gaz after the show and asked him for help with preparing for an audition - he openly and warmly accepted. Gaz started with asking me what I'm least confident about regarding my vocal skills - to which I told him that I couldn't belt, that I was used to being a soprano who couldn't sing powerful notes in a higher register. Then we hit the ground running - Gaz taught me how to use AES, the importance of retraction and the science behind creating the sound I wanted to produce during my audition song. We also worked on visualization techniques which really helped me and after about 3 lessons, I was singing notes I never thought I'd be able to sing. He ensured our lessons were fun, focused and impactful.
As a performer himself, Gaz understands the difference between delivering an "okay" performance and a truly exceptional one. During our lessons, he stressed the importance of authentic storytelling through song, which in turn, improved my confidence in my acting abilities.
Needless to say, I landed the role of Elsa in Frozen the Musical and I'm over the moon. I can't recommend Gaz highly enough. I'm looking forward to future lessons with him and already I've recommended him to friends who want to pursue vocal training. If you're looking for the best vocal tutor you'll ever work with, look no further”.
