This summer has been very variable - does anyone else feel the need for some more sunshine and warmth before autumn really sets in?

The pathways were cut before today's storm and the long grass is shining in the sunshine this evening.
Tonight will be the second full moon of August, it's called a Blue Moon not because of the colour, but because it doesn't happen very often.
The next one will be in 2037, who knows what we will be doing then! So maybe it's the opportunity for an adventure, be up early it's around 2.30 a.m. Who knows what we will be doing then!

Pathways will reappear very soon.

The green is used by lots of people, for lots of reasons, this is of course what it’s there for as a public space!
There will be some more areas left to encourage wildlife and biodiversity as well as playing games.

East Cambridgeshire District Council do the general maintenance, grass cutting etc.

This week Woodfen Labyrinth has been refreshed and the pathways are clearer.

This season has been so different to last year, when the grass was already so dry and straw like.
I hope the sun shines a bit more while we have some time off for Easter.

It's a bit harder to find the path on the first cut of the season!Looking forward to more sunny spring days so the grass...

EDIT - slight change of plan due to rain. The cut grass will be cleared, but may not be today.

Hello all, the autumn equinox for the northern hemisphere is tomorrow. That means daylight and dark hours are both almost exactly 12 hours.
The sun will rise at 06:48 tomorrow morning and set at 18:56 in the evening. Hopefully the sky clear to see both.

The Labyrinth is a good place to notice changes in seasons and today the maintenance team from East Cambridgeshire District Council cut the long grass to allow new grass to grow.
It might look messy for a few days, but that's ok!

The pathways will be clear tomorrow morning - not in time for sunrise but will be by end of school time!

Welcome to June!
Did anyone lose their way in no mow May?

The pathways were not cut, some new plants appeared and are thriving, they definitely grew bigger and attracted wildlife, including pollinators.
We did a small survey, there are at least 7 different types of grass growing.

Pathways have been cut again today, before the rain returned, so feel free to enjoy the Labyrinth
Share Woodfen Green with friends and family, enjoy the Jubilee weekend with picnics, walks and games.

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a lovely Easter weekend!
I had planned to cut the Woodfen Green Labyrinth pathway today, but annoyingly have got Covid19 and no energy.
If anyone has energy and time you are very welcome to borrow the lawn mower!
