Northern Passions: Schumann & Grieg – Chamber Meets Concerto 🎢

Join us at Haddo House Hall for an inspiring evening of Romantic masterpieces, as acclaimed pianist Nikita Lukinov joins forces with the incredible RCS Ensemble .

This concert offers an evening of Romantic music-making at its most expressive and engaging, uniting two much-loved masterpieces in an unusually intimate format. Schumann’s Piano Quintet β€” one of the great cornerstones of the chamber repertoire β€” brings together poetry, energy and dialogue between piano and strings, while Grieg’s celebrated Piano Concerto, presented in its septet arrangement, retains its grandeur and drama within a more personal setting.

FESTIVAL OF DARKNESS: WITCHES

Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 October @ Haddo House

SAVE THE DATES!

The shadows are gathering once more...

This autumn, Festival of Darkness: Witches arrives at the magnificent Haddo House, bringing together film, conversation and shared experiences to explore the many meanings of the witch.

Through stories of folklore, persecution, resistance and empowerment, the festival invites audiences to reflect on the past while engaging with ideas that remain strikingly relevant today.

Building on the success of our inaugural Festival of Darkness: Dracula in 2022, which celebrated 125 years of Bram Stoker's iconic novel, this year's festival pays homage to those who suffered persecution during the witch trials while creating space to better understand and explore modern witchcraft, its practitioners, and its continuing place in contemporary culture.

WITCHES (Elizabeth Sankey)
A powerful documentary examining society's enduring fascination with witches, exploring connections between witchcraft, motherhood, mental health and female experience. Followed by a special panel discussion.

HΣ’XAN: The Esoteric Cut
Benjamin Christensen's legendary silent masterpiece returns with a brand-new live score commissioned by Haddo Arts and performed by Neil Birse & Matthew Kilner, alongside a special pre-screening talk.

THE SECRET OF KELLS
A beautifully animated family adventure inspired by Celtic mythology, art and storytelling, with post-screening family activities to be announced soon.

SHE WILL
Charlotte Colbert's acclaimed Scottish gothic horror explores healing, power and revenge against the backdrop of witch-trial history, bringing the festival to a haunting conclusion in the atmospheric Haddo House Library.

Tickets go on sale FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 2026 @ 2:00pm.

More details, guest speakers and festival activities will emerge from the shadows soon...
