Meet Roo Geddes and Morgan Szymanski, who are performing Saturday 20 June live at Haddo 👋

Roo Geddes - Raised in a highly musical family in Glasgow, Scotland, Roo Geddes draws on a unique breadth of traditions in his playing. As a soloist, Roo has toured internationally, performing concerti with the Glasgow Symphony Orchestra and Peebles Symphony Orchestra, and sharing stages with artists such as Rod Stewart and Dougie MacLean. He was a finalist in the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2025, and has been recognised with awards including Celtic Connections’ prestigious Danny Kyle Award and Fèis Rois’ “In Tune with Nature” prize.

Morgan Szymanski - Born in Mexico City in 1979, Morgan Szymanski started playing the guitar at the age of six. Early studies at the National Music School (Mexico) and the Edinburgh Music School led to a scholarship to study under Carlos Bonell and Gary Ryan at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London. Described as ‘a player destined for future glories’ (Classical Guitar Magazine) Morgan Szymanski has been highlighted as ‘One to Watch’ by both Gramophone Magazine and the BBC Music Magazine.

Join us for an enchanting evening of music, as Roo and Morgan join forces in a musical journey from Europe’s J.S. Bach to Argentina’s Piazzolla, via Spain, Romania, Paraguay and Scotland!

This weekend! 🤩

Aberdeen City Music School day at Haddo 🎶🌳

We are delighted to announce that the pupils of Aberdeen City Music School will present Heritage & New Horizons: A Showcase of Young Musicians, at Haddo House on Sunday 7th June, in partnership with National Trust for Scotland and our free monthly Courtyard Concert programme.

Running from 11 am until 4 pm, the free event will see Haddo House transformed through a musical take-over, with 12 performances taking place across seven locations throughout the historic house and grounds. Expect a varied programme including pipes and drums, jazz piano, harp, guitar, trumpet, accordion, saxophone, and voice, alongside many ensemble performances.

Concerts will take place in the Library, Drawing Room, Hall, Game Larder, Peat Yards, Courtyard, and Chapel, creating a wonderful opportunity for visitors to explore the house whilst enjoying live music throughout the day.

Operations Manager vacancy

We are looking for a driven and organised Operations Manager to join our team to support the annual programme of performing arts and related events.

The Operations Manager will manage an annual programme of events planned by Trustees, including liaising with performers and venues, beginning with the 2027 season. The holder of the post will ideally have a broad range of relevant skills and some knowledge of the arts sector.

The post is part-time with flexible hours, typically amounting to around 20 hours per week, not evenly spread. The salary is negotiable. Applications welcome by the end of June.

Afternoon Family Ceilidh at Haddo House 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Join us in the splendid Haddo House Hall, on Sunday 23rd August 2026 at 3:30PM, for an afternoon of informal ceilidh dancing, in collaboration with Insch Ceilidh Club - with live music from Liam Stewart, Scotland's 2025 All Scotland Accordion Champion.

The dance will be hosted by Aberdeenshire's best ceilidh caller, Gary Coull, and all are welcome!

What a treat it was to welcome the wonderfully talented Nigel Clayton and Imma Setiadi to Haddo last weekend 🎹

Nigel and Imma performed a programme of dazzling piano duets, including Rimsky-Korsakov, Bizet, Chabrier, Saint-Saens, Fauré and Stravinsky. It was an incredible chance to see two true virtuosos working together in harmony to bring these rich pieces of music alive for the audience.

A massive thank you to both Nigel and Imma for an outstanding performance and to everyone who came down to enjoy the afternoon!

Wow! 🤩

What an utterly magical show we had last Saturday when we welcomed the incredible The Ayoub Sisters to the Haddo stage, for a remarkable evening of classically inspired string music from the Celtic and Arab world.

As well as a programme of mesmerising music, The Ayoub Sisters spent the evening discussing their journey and inspiration, which has led them to becoming one of the rising superstars of classical music.

A huge thank you to The Ayoub Sisters and to everyone who came along for an unforgettable evening.
